Default New Toy

Since it is pretty quiet on here I thought I would post some pics of my new project. Getting the Cobra painted will be put on hold for a while....

It is a Ski Wake boat hull with Easytow trailer. Much like building a cobra without the ADR hassles!

Currently looking for an LS1 to drop into it.

Ben

nice, looks like fun project. What sort of budget is needed to build one of them?

Looks like the cats found himself a new home as well!

CORRECT...how about a 351 Cleveland alloy block (DART) stroked to 393 and run it on gas (make the cat fart in a bottle) It'll run like a top and drink like a nun.

Yes, every boat needs an anchor for the mooring!

The budget is about $30K including everything.

We could go a lot cheaper by not using a gearbox and running an old school engine but I think it is worth going the Gen III engine for power and fuel efficiency.

Cheers,

Ben

Here is an update, I have been able to sneak some time for assembly.

Tow hook, grab rails and fuel filler fitted.

Cup holders are in. 7 total should be enough!

Gauges purchased from the US and trial fitted

Exhaust outlets fitted

Second hand LS1 with loom and computer picked up on ebay for $2100.

Modified sump and pick up ready to go on.

Now comes the harder bits!

Ben

Hello Bobby,

I think it is a modified Firebird sump.

I bought it from Kincaid Marine in Melb for about $900 I think.

Cheers,

Ben

WADDYA MEAN ? A 393 cu in aluminium block based on a Cleveland engine is a work of art. It would produce about 500 hp and be lighter than a cast block

The LS1 is certainly not a pretty engine, but then again it is under a cover anyway.

The Cleveland sounds great until you get the bill...

I figure about 350+ Hp from my $2100 motor will do just fine, and give fuel economy too.

I know less about boats than I do about cars, but that boat of yours looks great, well done.

Regards.

I thought I might update progress on the Ski boat.

Engine, gearbox, shaft and prop are in. Sideshow has started on the wiring. Still lots to do.

I will probably slow down on the boat for a month or two to get back onto the Cobra for a while.

Ben
