Default Getting ready for ShelbyFest

With me being a definate starter for Shelby Fest next year I figured Ronda's Fraud Crapi was going to struggle as a tow car.

late last year one of Ronda's uncles passed away and I was given his old Valiant, initially I was going to use it as parts on Ronda's Charger, but decided in teh end it was too nice a car to cut up, so the plan became to get it on club rego and use it as a tow car.

Well in teh past few weeks I have converted it from 4 wheel drum brakes with no booster to boosted disk brake front and drum rear.
The car stops so much better now.
I was also going to fit a Celica 5 speed but was advised not to use 5th gear for towing so have decided to leave the car as a 3 speed colomn shift, it may become a 4 speed floor shift in the future to make getting away with trailer in tow a little easier - especially if on a hill.
Here are some pics, I am yet to remove the roof rack and buff the roof, I have front carpet arriving next week, and am modifying teh back as 1 big storage area (the car has no back seat as it was a hearse).
Here are some pics from before and after.
This is as I found it when first picked it up, it had been this way since early 2003 atleast (last rego).

And yesterday.

Now that's a unique tow car. What a classic.

Celica 5 speed??? In the old days of 5 speed conversions they were only used initially, we all went for Supra 5 speeds for enchanced strength when we could. The Supra boxes would cop plenty of abuse from a 6 cyl.

Come on Merv, you must be pulling our leg. I'm sure you can remember what they are for. I bet Boxhead has already tried it out and relived his younger days.

Yeah Mike has hit the nail on the head.
The car used to be a hearse, I have removed all the hearse racks and slides from the back, the racks took up alot of room.
I do have a coffin that also came with the car - but it has no lid.

The dates I have are March 20 and 21
And it is held at Winton in Victoria.

If your thinking of heading down there Alffie, I am leaving Alice on 6th or 7th March, (going for engineer inspections and Chrysler car show the week before ShelbyFest)
Your welcome to tag along with me.
I will be coming home the Monday after ShelbyFest - Ronda is flying down for the weekend of fun and the return trip.

Here are some current inside shots.

I have modified a pair of Prado bucket seats that will most likely go back in before I make the tow trip down to Melbourne (they will be more comfortable).
But for now the bench seat will stay in until all ready to go.

An excellent sleeper with a matress in the back!

Or of course you could get a coffin for a lurk and fit it out with a mattress!
