Default Garage Update # 12

Guy's,

Its been a while since I last updated as we are waiting on the roof purlins.

They will be ready this week, just waiting on a crane.

The progress to date,

Cool!. It looks like you've had the pool installed in front too. Water looks a bit grubby though.

This is a 1/4 acre block in the middle of a nice suburb too - I'm astounded. I live a few suburbs away and the dramas our neighbour had getting a 2.5m high pegola put on his back porch, unbelievable. In the end a small sum of money changed hands and the complaints went away.

Dont get me wrong, I am not having a crack at Stiffy, more the council.

He has approval so more power to him, and I would love something like that in my yard (1/4 acre or not) , just stunned it was approved.

Default Councils

Boxhead,

Bay side Council is the toughest council in Victoria (something to do with all the Judges that live in the suburb) they want you to spend millions on the land (better rates) but you are only able to use 50% of the land for dwellings (including driveways)

I even received dispensation from the neighbours to reduce the 2.5 meter boundary to 1.8, but the council refused. So this buliding is 100% compliant.

Before I purchased the block I had a drafty in to give his opinion on what I wanted to do. It was a huge part of the decission to purchase the house based on his knowledge of the council regulations and the neighbouring dwellings.

Even with this information the Council was a pain, everything takes ages and costs heaps. I hate dealing with monopolies.
