Default LAKESIDE DBa and QR loses V8 S/Car and Shannons MC Challenge

Has anyone successfully got their car off the trailer and onto the track at Lakeside Historic Race Track?????

Curious

Also, I see John T has opted out of signing up The Big C's V8 Supercar circus.

Comments

And does anyone know if Shannons are putting on their Muscle Car Challenge like last year at QR. Was a great event!

I did think of driving the Cobra round given we built the toll test gantry out there.

Mind you it would have been pretty costly with the e-tag going off every couple of minutes or so

The track is in good conditioned with widened areas and re-surfaced.

100% better than QLD Raceway. The STi is more suited for this track.

Matt, there have been plenty of Cobra replicas taken off trailers at Lakeside over the years. Some years back there were a few us frequent that track on a regular basis.

Come to think of it there are much lower cars than cobras taken off trailers at the track.

The terrain of lakeside makes for lots of small banks/gullies where if you do have a problem with clearance then just find right bank/gully to unload/load.

If you do track the cobra at lakeside .... just watch "Hungry".

Default Lakeside

Oops, I think you have interpreted me incorrectly. Word has it that unless your car is started on the trailer and is under 95DBa they will not let you take it off the trailer and effectively send you home...

I have fanged FIAT's around Lakeside a bit but since Mr Tetley took it over as an historic track I believe noise ordinance is strictly adhered too...

I'd "suggest" many tricked up Cobras like my street car for example would not be allowed to run??? I was just curious as to what others may/may not have experienced?

Thansk in advance.

Matt

I had a chance to run around Lakeside last year. It had been completely resurfaced and the final corner had been straightened out a little to allow for more entry speed onto the straight - just to make 'the kink' a bit faster I suppose .

I had no trouble with noise but my car is tame, even for a street car.

However, I was there with another car club and one of the trailered cars was considered a little too loud after a few laps and was removed. Following some rudimentary dB measurements, the driver(s) were asked to make it quieter before they went back on the track. I did see them later on the track but I am not sure what they did to appease the officials.

The track itself is quite hair raising (epsecially Hungry's). There is little room for error. In the driver's briefing, we were told that 4 cars were written off the day before and more had been written off at Lakeside in the previous 9 months than at QR in the last 12 years. After a few laps - I believed it!!

Cheers

Geof
