Knock Knock Knock
For the technical, mechanical types.................
I've got an infernal knock, more of a flap flap flap from my rear axle.
Its definitely on the drivers side and only makes itself known when decelerating with the load off the back of the car, mainly at low speed - wierd!
Series 3 Jag suspension with avo coilovers.
Any ideas oh wise ones???
Thanks in advance.

Something may be broke!
Check to see if your axel vent tube or your emergency brake cables has worked theirs way over by your drive shaft. Chck for any worn spots. Mine noise turned out to be my axel vent line that had came loose and was just barely hitting my ds.

Thanks Clois - appreciated
It does sound like something catching as apposed to say a bush issue.
I'll crawl under this week and have a closer inspection at the brake linkage / tubing etc, basically anything that may catch on the rear axle.

If it is only happening on over run (foot off accelerator) then it could be a uni joint or diff bearing, unlikely but still a possibility.
I am not really upto speed on the jag rear setup so cant offer much more, sorry Pete

I had a clicking sound once in the rear end and it turned out to be a loose spinner. The wheel was wobbling every so slightly.

Yes Clois these 'Chevra" guys .... fail to recognise the greatness of the Ford motor that has endured for so long and is so flexible and adaptable.

It wouldn't be any fun if there wasn't one or the other. We need all of them Ford, Chevy, and Chrysler.
Are you guys taking car of my Friend Bernie down there?

Scotty - you certainly know how to go off subject!
Dave - I did think uni joint although it is intermittent. Definitely the driver's side so doubt its the diff.
May be Les the Jag guru can offer some wisdom
Bill - Definitely not a spinner issue (I have 5 studs)
Thanks all.
