540 Exterior Door Handle Update

I decided to use a door handle of a vehicle built around the same time the original concept cobra was built. I used the one from the Falcon donor car. The curve of the handle was the same as the 540's door and mechanism of the rear door handles of the falcon didn't interfere with the window runner.

Hi warren, how did the electric windows go, good fun to install i bet.Would have been interesting welding inside the door.Will need a picture or two once the windows and handles are working.

Remember that the Australian fords are about three to four years BEHIND the american jobbys...no drama though as the yanks don't know where or what Australia is. ha ha ha ha

Just a thought, does the law require a manual locking method for ADR's?

The runners for the windows are reasonably straight forward to mount, just waiting to get the glass to make sure everything lines up. Welding in the door was easy, the bending the rhs in the door was the challenge.

I don't really know, but there has been a couple of 540's registered with varing styles of exterior door latch actuators without manual locks.

Mine only required exterior door handles if there are provisions for a roof, and I would have asumed if a roof is a possable fitment then external locks would be required.
Further to that I know that anything with a roof that has to have external door handles, must have a manual operation (in cases of electric solenoids, there must be a manual alternative) from outside the vehicle in case of accidents.
