Sorry Dave, kept it for a lot of years, it was on a tape I labeled 'Yellow Cobra Movie'. Given I'd missed the first scene, I must have wiped or ditched it in an effort to apease the bride by de-cluttering. There only scenes of the cobra were those shown on the link you posted.

Sacrelige!!!!

No worries David, with any luck we can find a copy though AFC (although the emails I sent appear to have bounced back).

I think that copy needs to be copied, in case the original gets scratched.

If it doesn't turn up or it's poor quality let me know and I'll see if I can chase one up through the relos, there may be a copy at Jon's place. That car chase reminds me of some of our Saturday nights lol. One mate had an R/T E38 Charger that used to go through fuel at the same rate as that Charger in the movie being barbequed. My mate’s Charger was an awesome machine as long as you didn’t want to stop real quick or see where you were going at night. With the ‘right’ size jets in it I think it got about 6 miles to the gallon from memory. I had a Daytona Datsun and another mate had a very nice black V8 HG panel van with sde pipes that ended up smacked against the rock wall beside Henry Kendall’s Rock at Gosford on the old Pacific highway. He wasn’t seriously hurt but he said the ride in the back of the ambulance to Gosford hospital was pretty scary Lol. They were the days; a few of us were probably lucky to survive it.

cheers

Look for "Fast Lane Fever." Aussie movie made around 1977 - '69 Daytona (friend of mine owns it now - RH drive), '70 Challenger, '57 Chevy, Vette. Great movie - I love it. The blind guy that owns the '57 Chevy is SOOOOO cool!

Maybe the registration number (license plate) would give a clue, but I couldn't see it in the clip.
After consulting with SAAC and the 2008 Cobra registry, there's a pretty good chance that the car in this movie was COB6035 (not COB6043).

COB6035 was a right-hand drive model which spent much of its life in Australia, from approx. 1970 to 2002, where it had five different owners. For a while the car was painted pale yellow and equipped with a low full-width roll bar also painted pale yellow. While down under, it was registered "AC 494" (the plate on the movie car just says, "COBRA").

According to IMDB "Running from the Guns" was released in 1987, but does anyone know when it was actually filmed? Obviously it was before that as one of the stars, Jon Blake, suffered a life-altering car accident in Dec 1986. Apparently COB6035 was restored and repainted green (from yellow) some time before Sep 1985, so if this is the car in the movie then it must've been filmed before then.

In Australia this movie is known as Running on Empty. The best bad movie ever made.

Got an email from a mate of mine today and yes, it seems that ioffer is where they tracked it down. So I'll let you all know what the quality is like when it makes it's way over west...

"Green is Nice"

Good old Max Cullen. Still popping up in the movies today. Recently appeared in the X-Men origins Wolverine movie.

Running on empty is a great Aussie B movie. Bought it on DVD a few years back. I must dig it out and watch it again.

Cheers

A nice young lady from the AFC just returned my call and gave me Dennis Wright's mobile number - he was the executive producer. Apparently if anyone knows where to get hold of the film, he will. His mobile went to voicemail and I left a message saying a number of Cobraphiles were keen to track down the movie. Fingers crossed!

Default It was a copy.

I have a copy of the film on video and I got it about 15 to 20 years ago.
Even the story was enjoyable but to have a Cobra tearing around the place
just made it special.

The information I got many years ago, was it was a fibreglass copy of a Cobra.
At the time of production Cobras were already demanding high prices
and the owner didn't want it damaged, so he allowed a mould to be made
to make two cars on a condition that at the end of filming the bodies were to
be stripped, destroyed and buried.

Even in those days Carroll Shelby was always ready to sue someone, hence the
reason for the destruction.

I believe the story about them is in a book, I don't know the name of it,
but I know someone who does.
I shall track him down and find out.(haven't seen him for many years)
Hope I can find him.

The photo of the three movie stars at the front of the Cobra and two of them sitting on it says........
"It is not aluminium."
