I am not saying it is an alloy one, but very odd that it had an underbonnet fire yet the bonnet and scoop dont look damaged?
You can see soot from the fire.

Its a plastic one, check out the hand brake position, dash doors etc etc etc, lots of clues it not a real one. Would make a good fixer if the price was right though.
The soot looks more like fire extinguisher powder.

And thats the biggest problem.
The fire extinguisher powder is highly corrosive and every bit of wiring will have to be replaced.
I had a ute once and someone torched the back of it just before I went to the tip. The heat broke the back window and the cabin filled with smoke. A passer by broke the side window and let loose with a fire extinguisher even though there was no flame. Fire was put out, and I thought I was up for a new rear tray, and two new windows. Insurance assessor wrote it off due to the fire extinguisher damage.

I haven't seen stone guards on the rear arches like those. What are they made of?

As we all know alloy doesn't mean real....If you ask me a handbrake can go in many positions ....We were just querying the term DENTS on a glass car, with your indepth knowledge of these vehicles enlighten the masses as to the make if you would

Yeah, I was not hinting at a real one, just an alloy one.
Didnt G-Force have an alloy option?

The brass house name letters on the door trim and dash really set it off as a classic and I'm sure the owner of any alloy bodied cobra would be proud to attach them to their prized possesion......
G force alloy body cobra hand brake was on the side.
It's plastic.

You're right about those classy Bunnings Warehouse letters not suiting an alloy body. I think they'd be perfect for Copper though...

G'day all.
After checking out the pics of the Cobra being auctioned, I had the suspicion it might have been the same kit as a vehicle I'd taken some pics of whilst racing at Oran Park in 2007.
I had a look at the Natsoft results for that particular days racing, I discovered that the car pictured below is a "GJM Taipan" Cobra replica. The rear quarter looks very similar (somewhat bulbous), along with the left hand mounted fuel filler location, side vents and heavily padded interior.
Perhaps the mystery car is a GJM?
I'd also scoured the net with very little info on "GJM" being available. Here's the most interesting information I could find on the manufacturer.
"In Geoffrey McHattan v Australian Specialised Vehicle Systems Pty Ltd and Anor ("ASVS"), ASVS wanted to use the name “Taipan” in relation to a specific armoured vehicle it had developed in response to a tender by the Australian Defence Forces. McHattan had a trade mark “GJM Taipan” registered in respect of motor vehicles. McHattan had an objection to ASVS using the Taipan name in relation to goods which were included in his trade mark. He applied to the Court for an injunction against ASVS to restrain it from using the name “Taipan” until the matter was resolved. ASVS lodged an application seeking to exclude certain goods from McHattan’s trade mark. The Court considered the effect, on both parties, of the success and failure of an application by McHattan to obtain an interim injunction against ASVS. An interim injunction was granted which prevented ASVS’s use of the mark “Taipan” in relation to the tender until the issue of infringement of McHattan’s trade mark was resolved. The Court considered that notwithstanding McHattan’s case being considered “weak” no detriment would be suffered by ASVS as the name of the vehicle was not likely to be significant in the tender process. As a result ASVS incurred substantial legal costs, inconvenience and possible damage as a result of not conducting a proper search of the trade mark register before committing resources to a product name. "
Hopefully Brett "Shelby400" may be able to shed some more light on the situation?
The pics below are certainly not the best I'd ever taken at the track, however they may still help in identifying the mystery Cobra nonetheless.
Cheers.
Stephen.

I just attempted to have a look at this car but they won't let me in to view it until the day of the auction.
I asked the girl behind the counter if she could tell me anything about it. I asked what sort of motor it had. Her answer was a burnt one and its red.
I gave up there and then.
I might try again on Friday.
