Official launch of the road & track clutchless 6speed
Looks interesting for those guys that race all the time wonder how loud the gear box it will be.
From their web site:
We at PPG are proud to announce that Keisler Engineering is now the USA stocking distributor and official assembler of the new HEAVY DUTY Road and Track 6speed gearset. Developed by both PPG and Keisler, the set is a bulletproof replacement for the standard T56 transmission found in Challengers, Corvettes, Camaros, Vipers and Mustangs.

Noise shouldn't be too bad, as they are still using helical gears. I can't see that any of their options are for clutchless shifts though.
I love the look of their "1400hp" rated 1st to 4th gear option, using standard OD 5th and 6th gears. Seems to make perfect sense.
Only problem I can figure, and it's something that I haven't looked any further into with the T56, is how strong the standard case is. I know that Mike Long from G Force transmissions makes some beautiful race gears / shafts / sliders for the T5 transmission. Throw too much torque at it though, and the main/cluster shafts can't handle the load and just push themselves apart, taking the case out with it...

Hmmm... I could recreate that video with any old Hyundai Getz in a shopping centre car park if we're just talking about lifting off the gas as you pull the next gear. To call it a true "clutchless" trans is a bit of a stretch. Until you see the maintenance schedule and critical clutch settings of a genuine drag racing clutchless trans like the G-Force GF2000, you can't appreciate what a pain they most be to deal with. Then again, to cope with in excess of 2500hp at the tyres and allow genuine full throttle upshifts, they have to be pretty special.
Now having said that, a helical, non-synchro, dog gear trans seems like a really nice compromise for a stout street car. Let's wait for the pricing...

Jeez, you can buy a complete race trans for that, not just a gear set!
Holinger (if you look around for a deal)
G-Force GF5R - new!
Jerico DR-4 new!
Lenco 4 speed - good used.
Spook - lots of guys running DR-4s and GF5Rs on the street without issues. The vertical gate shifter can get a bit sticky on them, but the H Pattern is a champ. PM sent. Is it one of those "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" games???
