Default Shelby Fest

What a great time we had at the fest . The Victorian club members should be proud . Three of us Tony Stark , Denis Stone and myself made up the Queensland team . WE all did more laps than we could count . Tony and I drove the Daytona which ran with out any problems but Denis on his last run blew the motor .
So we will make it next year as we thought it was worth the time and effort .
The trip for us is 1500k's each way and I think all the money on roads has been spent on the hwy between Sydney and Melbourne with their dual roads all the way , north of Sydney to the Gold Coast is **** in comparison .

Well done to all who competed, and of course a special "well done" for the effort made by the Canetoads Warwick,Tony and Denis...with Don and Jen as the pit crews.....

It's about a 3,200 kilometres round trip, and they all made it home today in one piece.

Would have loved to have been able to get there.....

New engine only finished in the last few days....

Maybe next year.

Results are on the attached link.

http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results.cgi

Some very quick times...

Jeezz Mr. Mizzi..have you been taking some "Go fast Pills" ??

Might have to swab you !!

Well done and many congratulations to the organizers...
Tony and Jason have pulled it off together ...

Cheers,
Warren

Silly old fart! Doesn't he know what a tacho is?
Now I suppose he'll want someone to pay for his breakfast on Sunday...

Poor Denis...

Always wanted to be James Bond 007....so far has only got the smoke blower and oil sprayer working on his hot car...

He has another Windsor sitting here in my warehouse, and has already made arrangements to pick it up in the next couple of days.

You won't keep him down!

Cheers,
Warren.

Winton is notorious for engine blow ups
Tight bends ,if your not running a baffled sump you can see the oil pressure go to zero on those corners, that was prob the cause, don't know if it had anything to do with the tacho
Great shot though

Denis just left here after picking up his "Spare" Windsor that I had stored.

I also picked up my new Stroker for the Race Car this morning, and we were talking about my new sump having plenty of baffles and wings etc.

Denis agreed that he thought his problem at Winton was that his sump wasn't baffled enough and the track was very tight causing exactly the problem you were suggesting.

It's also pretty hard on brakes...I found out the hard way!

Denis will be up and running in a couple of weeks ,ready for the next A Series sprints in April.
Can't keep a good man down!

Cheers.

It was fantastic that you came all that way

Great to have two Daytonas - both looking sensational

The good roads used to stop at the Vic boarder - separated dual carriage ways certainly make the trip a lot easier - your comments are a good reminder not to take them for granted.

I am delighted that you aim to come next year too - looking forward to seeing you on the track.

Default RIP Windsor.

Ouch, I bet that is a 20 year unopened windsor.

Had a ball at the fest, Tony and Jason you have something special with what you have created. Thankyou to the Vic club for making us so welcome.

Car was running brilliantly, gave it a wash yesterday, that bloody cane toad juice is hard to remove. I may have to look at some coating for the nationals

Obviously racing should not be attempted without at least two engines available! That is scary stuff.

I dont think you can paint an engine purple and then expect it to keep it all together.

Default mr guinness

I have done the autopsy on the big bang at the Winton Shelby Fest.
It let go at 5500rpm with no warnings at all. I had only been taking it to 5500 as it was breaking down after that (missing ).
The crank is in three pieces, and there was no sign of any seizures or nuts or stuff letting go. The crank had just had enough, and decided to scare me to bits. At least it was good enough to wait until the last couple of laps. and one must look on the bright side of life as i wasn't going to go out for the last laps , but Warwick called me a cissy, so I had to go. If I had not have gone it probably would have blown up in the first run at Morgan park in a couple of weeks time.
