Trophy....? What the.... Soz MrsFT I'll be happy if I can just peddle the thing around the track without any little offs.....
Me hears the VENOM Man was super quick at the A series.. A far more likely trophy contender..
See you there!

We have 4 garages booked and will have some really nice RCR's out there both on the track and on display.
I'm really looking forward to it.

Spooky, better hope the showers don't occur when you are out on track.

Good luck to all the cars and drivers this weekend.
Keep the shiney side up and the slippery stuff inside.

A lot of us up there today but not a lot of practice laps.... Some lad in a late model falcon hit the wall at serious speed ( 240 kph plus ) at the end of the back straight. Two of our guys were with Him immediately, putting out fires and holding heads up until ambulance arrived.. Broken leg and off to hospital... Reported to be o.k. Scares the beejesus out of us on the track. As far as spooks beast... SERIOUS engine and awesome looking machine... Still finding his feet but looked like it will be VERY quick. Writing this on my I-phone while my mum cooks me a special dinner... Doesn't get her little boy home to Ipswich all that often. Gotta go... Mum says dinners ready.

Well what
Hey all. Sorry about the bad pic. An eventful day!!!
Sadly a major accident led to most of the day being canned. $120 all day practice gave me all up 8 laps!!! But at least the guy is relatively Ok.
We also had a few issues with the guys... Greg in his GT40 with engine troubles, Job B had belt issues, Mick broke a tailshaft etc etc...
But we all were still in one piece at the end of the day. The white beast went well although I had to put my heart back into my chest after my 1st and only run.... My balls have also had to be "enhanced' a little!!!!
Was still a good but expensiveish day!!! But hay, who's complaining as a good fang is WICKED FUN!!!!!
Pray for a safe, dry day tomoz!

Sat Update. Good news is the fellow who had his accident yesterday is OK but still very unwell. His prognosis is Ok though. Keeps it real as to what we do is dangerous... BIG thumbs up to Scotty of VENOM CF and Gary of BYDesign Msport who were 1st on scene and used their heads to make the guy as comfortable as possible. Quick thinking and sound experience by Gary and Scott certainly helped this fellow from worse injuries IMO...
Todays racing was less dramatic... In our group Scott and Todd DRB GT40 were scary quick but everyone sprinted well together and whether you were out there to blister or just enjoy a great track outing everyone was generally excellent and made for a fun safe experience...
For me... well I've never run at QR so decided to attach myself to a very quick Iyve QUEEN COBRA 09 to learn the track lines....... I need more practice!!!!!
Great day, car is coming along and I am learnig fast.... Made a few mistakes but its a handful and for those who witnessed it...its a lot of car to get ya head around!!!!!

And it's a lot of car to get your ears around too! I'd be recommending a set of industrial strength custom ear plugs or head-phones if you're planning on spending any length of time in the near vicinity of this beast!
It reminds me of the time Craig's beaut old monster spat out two globs of burning fibreglass packing from its sidepipes, one from each side, entering the main straight at QR and set fire to the grass in the infield. We had to drive back to Brisbane with straight-through totally unmuffled pipes. I wasn't hearing much by the time we passed the Amberley turn-off, and the silence when Craig shut it down when we arrived home was, as they say, deafening.
Never mind, I reckon Spook's new toy is a fantastic addition to the ranks. Great looks, great sound (from a distance) and by the time Wakefield Park rolls around, a major PITA for the Mexicans!!!

Spook doesn't just jump in the new race car and head to the staging area like most others. Sensibly, he and Chris are getting a good routine together to make sure harnesses, restraints, balaclava, helmet, gloves, etc, etc, etc are all in place - secured and checked - before firing up and driving away.
As a result, the last session this afternoon was called. Everyone else had driven away a minute or two before, and then it happened......
Spook hit the starter, and the car EXPLODED into life inside the now empty shed. Nobody in the area was expecting it.
Birds flew from the trees.
Children jumped.
Babies cried.
Old ladies had heart attacks.
Deaf people heard something for the first time.
Stuff rattled and fell from the walls.
Chris was standing there with her industrial strength ear muffs.
I stood there with an enormous stupid grin!
What a tough sounding bit of gear...!
The award for "Quickest rebuild after what looked like catastrophic engine failure down the front straight" went to OZVENOM for his turbo replacement between rounds. Calling in a favour from a mate to go around to pick up a spare turbo from his house, he turned up with 2 (or 3?) turbos, including The Big One", just in case more power was needed...
Runner up for biggest smoke show was the big HP supercharged Chev from that recent cul-de-sac / footpath circlework video. Staying buried into the throttle as he looped it coming onto the front straight (and out of a tank-slapper) created a smoke signal that the native Indians in Nevada will still be trying to decipher.
Todd in the GT40 was a force to be reckoned with as usual.
Best maintenance schedule for a race car award goes to Denis Stone. After his "spit engine parts all over track" efforts down south a little while back, he's back to his usual ways... Drive car back into pit bay. Spend 10 seconds casting a quick eye over things. Sit down and watch everyone else frantically repairing / tweaking / adjusting / replacing things on their cars. Such a calm approach!
Best quote came from Pete Hancock after a tiny turbo-related technical glitch while borrowing John's turbo Lexus Cobra. "I hate all these bloody turbos - sh!t just keeps falling off them" haha

You Marshes are Hilourious.... Twas a real eye opener for me.. new car, new track bla bla bla..
But based on its 1st outing, LHD and all the rest I felt pretty happy all in all.... Had few issues with battery/elecrial, pedals layout and brakes plus and a strange engine cut out on the last run but nothing a strip down and check cant find and fix. I'd say a few more years and I might be OK to run at 60% throttle! Lol!
Was great to see everyone band together and all in one big shed rocks!
See you at the Nats... Put me in a shed far away you think?????
Was such a top weekend....

Great shots Merv!
Thanks for sharing.
Does anybody know anything about that stunning CSX? Has it been registered in Oz somehow?
Cheers.

Not in your class Steve. My Leica does a reasonable job, but it was a dull drizzly day. The CSX was very sound and some others may know more. I have enlarged the authentication plate in the photo as much as the poor res on this site will allow.
