Default Shannons Musclecar Shootout June 26th 27th

Hey Guys,

Anyone from the southern States interested in coming to Queensland for a great event?
A few of us Qlders did it last year and had a ball. Every time we lined up on the dummy grid the spectators were crowding around taking photos etc, was a real buzz!

http://www.qldraceways.com.au/pdf/r_...0ssmcs2010.pdf

It's a great event, we got to run in our own class (Cobra / GT40) and were arguably the stars of the weekend. This year the event features 'Ford and Shelby American' vehicles.

Anyone interested should contact Peter Hancock (TUF427) for more information. We have about 14 Cobra / GT40 / Daytona vehicles so far.

I am organising the sheds so if you decide you would like to come and want to join the club atmosphere here let me know and i can hopefully find you a spot to park your car.

With all the bloody engine dramas I've had over the last year or so....I'm in that category !!

The Non-Regulars.

Really looking forward to it....this year I'll be doing more than just taking photos.

Cheers,
Warren.

"Reasonably quiet". Spooky, now I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing it.

I wouldn't miss this for the world. Fantastic event, already got my booking in for a garage for the RCR guys.

Even if you don't want to race, come out and watch the Cobra's, GT40's and Daytona's racing here. It really is a spectacle and one of the recognised highlights of the event. Plus as OzVenom says, there really is a lot of automotive eye candy there.

See you all there.

Matt - QLD Raceway! Hmmm seems to be a few issues there of late!

There will most certainly be considerable fallout from the weekend.. Garth T certainly poo poo's the place everytime he goes.....

Bad accident for sure... But unless your watching racing at home on TV you need to be aware that these things can happen. How it could have been avoided isn't my area of speciality but my Dad used to work with John Kelly Racing sprint cars and he never let us spectate on the on corners OR if we did it was up in the bleaches! Safest place when he was involved was in the bloody car!

Still remember hm going off his nut once as all the kids were running down the fence to collect the tear offs and the next race a sprint car hung itself on the top 3 barb wire strands at Archerfield!

Sheeat.. Super close. The next weekend the kids were doing it again! Doh!

I did not realise that posting a pic of my cobra would create so much discussion,i spoke to Garry,he said the picture of the black cobra was used for example purposes only because when the website was created he did not have a complete car to use,he now will use my car in his adverts.
just as well he didnt use a picture of a local produced cobra, probably would have run out of forum space. mal

AND THE WEATHER FORECAST IS.............

The hemispheric long wave pattern has been relatively slow moving in recent weeks. There are three main troughs. Currently the most significant troughs are near the longitudes of the southwest Indian Ocean, Western Australia, and the southeast Pacific.
Summary:
Over southern and eastern Australia the cold front events with potential to bring widespread rain are now expected about 23 June to 27 June, 3 July to 7 July, and 12 July to 16 July. Rain events originating in the tropics and moving south are possible about 4 July to 8 July, and 14 July to 18 July.
Over Western Australia the strongest cold fronts should occur about 28 June to 2 July, 2 July to 6 July, and 7 July to 11 July.

Cool

14 Cobras and 4 GT40s entered --and of these 14, a front running couple retired from the weekends super sprints with severe mechanical issues.
A Chance at the podium for the Towy and Spooky.
