Default my new bdm cobra

here are some pic of my new bdm cobra, its now finished, thanks to a freiend who has built one before,i am now in the process of registering it.i love it,i am glad i chose the bdm aluminuim chassis the car has much more room inside than any of the othersi looked at,and the torsional test the engineer had to do for registration showed it had over 8600nm per degree he said that was just excellent and much more than what is required for queensland transpot dept,we weighed it on those four point racing scalesand the total weight was 1024 kg,even i know that is good!it was 51% on the front with only one person 90kgs on board,it is a bit high at the moment but i will wait untill it settles down and we have done a few miles before i try setting it up,it has coil over adjustable shocks all round, and the springs may be alittle hard at the moment (thought it might be a bit heavier
it has a 5.7 l vx motor and auto ,vs brake system and all the other parts were supplied by BDM except the instruments
it goes hard- love it,love it,love it.

Congratulations Malcomm.

I gather you are in QLD from your post, so none of the hassles the NSW guys are currently suffering.
Yes tell us more about BDM, all bits supplied - any fitment hassles?, where are they from? Was it originaly set up for RHD?
Cheers

Congrats Malcomm.

BDM are local, well local to me anyway.

Ignore the image on the front of their web site, that looks like a Kirkham to me that has had the image altered so that it is RHD.

You are a genius, that looks like the exact same photo, just retouched for bdm web page.

If you are guys are wondering, I spotted it as a Kirkham by the oil cooler hole shape. I'm really into Cobra body shapes these days, but still a novice when it comes to some of the experts around.

Wow - Ive beed called a fwit, a dhead and of course a smart arse on the forum, but never a genius. I will sleep well tonight.

I just googled "black Kirkham" and that was one of the first pics to come up. Definately the same pic going by some of the reflections in the paint. If bdm have flopped a Kirkham for their body tell me where to send the deposit

Back on track though - would love to see some more pics of the completed car.

Cheers

welcome Malcomm --you'll be well pleased with that car --the same builder did all my cars -- say, what about a little drive out to Morgan Park, Warwick 19-20/6/10 so we can check it out

Looks good mate. I like a lot of the ideas that seem to have gone in to this kit, but.....

BDM using a photoshopped image of a Kirkham as their "flagship" vehicle for their website is perhaps the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a long time. Truly staggering!

First thought is it's like a high school nerd trying to pick up chicks by posting an online profile showing himself to be someone taller, fitter and better looking... It might get some attention initially, but you're going to look like a tosser when you get caught out.

Malcomm, your car looks really great, but I hope BDM's chassis and suspension decisions were more thoroughly thought out than their web site design...

(Well spotted Craig and Tenrocca - jeez nothing gets past this crowd!)

Do I really Tommy boy? , What I do reckon though is that people who wouldnt know irony if it walked up and whacked them over the head with an over ripe banana shouldn't comment on what it is "I reckon"

Maybe the ripe banana is the body and the reason for using someone elses BODY picture??.....Did Mr Bedford only design the chassis and not lend the BANANA BODY to flop off...LET THE FLAMING BEGIN!!

Malcolm car looks great ,good luck with the final rego!!!
Though it sounds like you've already had plenty of GoKart action in her already!!!

It appears that this company has a well designed product that would appeal to many. But using a Kirkham for their ads. Talk about knocking your credibility back a few notches. If they did this without permission then it makes one wonder what else they would do that wasn't on the up & up. They need to fix this fast and I mean fast. Then they need to put this on the site to explain their actions.
I hope they think the Cobra buying public is not too educated about the shape of these cars. You might fool the rookies but not the seasoned experts. From what I saw on the site they do nice work and I'm sure they are doing the best they can. They just need to stand on their own merit without subliminal use of another's product.
Malcomm that is a beauty of a Cobra. I truly am impressed with the suspension. It has to do well in the twisties. I hope you drive the hell out it.

no i didnt, i havent seen that thread, i was just commenting on ole andy boys sarcastic dummy poster, and ill send him his prize of a can of aluminium paint for his touchups, congratulating him for his superior wit, oh and a packet of panadol for having to suffer those he percieves are not up to his superior intellect. im sure he would class himself in the last 15% being a teacher after all.
