Heres a in car lap from the weekend - quality isnt great as its not a particularly suitable camera for the job. Im not as fast as Gav, but still had a lot of fun.

Heres an interesting vid - looks like its Kim Downs "in car" in the staging area when the slr blew up doing 180 down the straight - you can see the plume of smoke appear in the backgound. Still wiping oil from my car.

Nice pics gents... The QLDs are home after a bloody wet trip back. It rained all the way to the border then stopped!!! Of course. Water was over the highway in 2 places and took me 9 HRS to get home from Bellingen!!!
Scotty had a catastrophic diff failure in his F truck (Familiar feeling for me - see pic)
and spent essentially 24 hours awake, lying in a gutter up to his nostrils in water and diff oil and then tilt trayed all the way home... FROM KEMPSEY! Urgh.
My nats never really got started after blowing my diff after 10 laps on the practice day on Thursday. After a trip back to Sydney on Friday to get a new beefed up unit and then re-installed Friday night/Saturday all went to the poo with only 4 laps before it rained and the car got garaged with an oil leak and back on the trailer...
3 million K's to get my diff rebuilt and discover an oil leak but hey thats racing!!!! Congrats to all who ventured out. Great to catch up with the Bumble bees, Stefy, Phil and Karen, Richfergus and all the rest who popped their head into our pit garage to see the ole No:6 with its ass in pieces....
As usual a great bonding session for all BUT after 3 years of bloody rain its testing the QLD's resolve to do it again for a wet ass.... Sadly for us it isn't a long weekend as our labour day is in May so its a huge effort for all...
Perhaps a discussion for another post... but COBRA NATS 2011 is being flagged for QLD RACEWAY NEXT YEAR! LOL
Sounds like the trip from hell Spook!
Glad you made it back safely -- eventually.
Time to get back into Queensland mode -- a nice big muddie and a seafood salad with a large glass of white, sitting under a palm tree looking out over sun drenched blue water. Goulburn was just a bad dream that's slowly f a d i n g a w a y .......
Spook - bummer to hear of your dramas. Was the oil leak in the motor or diff?
Is that a 44 tooth crown wheel??? The only ratio I know of with 44 teeth is the standard issue 2.75:1. Couldn't be!
How was the engine running? Still giving the richter scale a nudge when you fire it up?

I would agree that there are plenty of us that travel for the nationals.
Perhaps some sort of venue rotation maybe the answer.
A change of host state would take the pressure off of one group organizing every year too.
I travel about 9hrs now but if one out of every few years I had to tow to SE QLD I think it would be manageable.
