I am looking forward to seeing this once completed. Seems like years ago (because it was) when I saw it mocked up before being painted.
Looks awesome..... Great vision in your head.... And very well executed.

Well done Wazza
I love the colour, engine bay looks really neat especially with the LS7 tucked in there, Great work with Scotty
What did Warwick construct the suspension covers out of? Fiberglass. Can others buy them?
Dave (anvid) had to grow the leather for my interior also however the wait was worth it. Hes done a few cobras now.
All round your car looks fantastic, wish I could see it in the flesh.

Looks fantastic. Will 8000 be enought for the tacho?
What is the central section of your dash made from, and is it painted? I am assuming it screws on from the outside.

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for the kind words.
The suspension covers are fiberglass...made by Warwick Harrison, and "finished" nicely by Des Godber, our painter..
https://www.facebook.com/des.godber
I changed my mind away from ANNVID....went with Kerry Morrow, who has done some of the really special Cobras over the many years he's been at it.
He does a lot of the DRB work, and some really nice stuff for Craig White at Absolute Pace.( And before that at R.C.R.)
The work that Kerry does is first class...but he is bloody slow unfortunately.
I'm guessing that if DRB and Absolute Pace stopped giving him jobs to do...he would have got to mine a lot earlier.
You know how it is...they have their main clients that they always need to look after.
I AM going with Dave Britton ( ANNVID )...for the Tonneau, and the Soft Top...
He makes AWESOME soft Tops...
I've always admired Peter Hancock's soft top...had it on there now for 4-5 years...uses it all the time...still sits like new...not a wrinkle.
They have a moulding that clips on to the car...
and then the roof clips on to the SIDE of the moulding.
Sits nice and square...not pulling up at an angle from the clips...if you know what I mean.
As good as a Hard top, without the hassle of storage etc.
THEN...it'll be finished....maybe.

Looks like 7000 rpm will be plenty.....
Here's how the LS7 goes in a much heavier Corvette....
Corvette Z06 0-190 MPH - YouTube
That should be fun !
And the central section was a problem....I was trying to do something in fibreglass, then metal sheeting....and Scotty reckoned he could make it out of craft wood ...well some product that is similar anyway.
Some careful and skilful work with a hole saw ,and various tools,by Scott.... then finishing off by Des the painter.....and it came out looking like a bought one....
then left the suitable space in the dash padding, so that it fits "flush"with the leather.....a lot of rooting about, but with the black face gauges and chrome surrounds...and a black backing plate, behind the toggle switches , yet to be fitted...
I'm hoping it will look how I "dreamt it up", about 4 years ago.
These are the sort of things that do your head in, when after all that, they can sometimes look crap....but so far I'm happy with it.
Cheers, Warren

Hi Geof,
Just another pic of that instrument panel.
Picture taken outside the paintshop...when I picked up the panel from the painter.
I couldn't get over how an ugly old bit of craft wood changed when it's all been smoothed and painted.
And yes...
It will simply screw into the nutserts fitted on the dash....and should fit flush with the leather and padding.
Cheers,
Warren

That console remindes me of a UK kit layout - ERA was it??
I've certainly seen photos of a concentrated layout very much like that from an 80's kit maker in a book somewhere.
Is that a part source of the layout inspirations?
I do think it looks quite smart though.
Good work mate.

Looks sensational. Actually looks like pressed metal. Great finish. Craftwood, you say. Hmmmmm.

Hi Slo,
When I upgraded the interior of my first Cobra, I had something a bit similar, which I was used to looking at I suppose..
And, one of our clever club members ( A select few you might say ), Phil Aish, made a centre console from fiberglass, which I thought looked pretty good, and different to the usual layout...
Anyway...I had been mucking around with this idea for a while (YEARS ), and had always been told it would look s'house...then Scotty found a sheet of something similar to craftwood...a bit harder than craftwood I believe...and he had a go.
After we painted it the same as the centre stripe, and drowned it in clear...it looks how I want it to look...
Hopefully , when the whole thing is finished it will "fit in"...
If not...
I'll come up with something else I suppose.
Cheers,
Warren.

Coming together nicely!!! The shifter placement should give you heaps of elbow room too. I can't wait to see this fabulous car out on the road!

Wazza, unlike leroy17, I don't command an adequate grasp of the english language to be able to understand the descriptions of your build as others do. Pictures are the only means I can truly appreciate the quality of your work.
Please post lots of GOOD quality pictures!
Regards.

Progress being made..
Sorry that the quality of the pics is not too good..
I'm just using the phone...
There will some be better shots taken , once I've finished it all.
Updates from this morning.....
Back panel all done,
all speakers hidden, and "hide away" panel in the middle...
Central panel opens to a couple of shelves, and the centre console will be padded to come up to almost the bottom of this panel....
Trimming around the cover made to hide the bracket for the bows of the soft top...used a bit of mirror stainless to tidy it up.
Front speakers also hidden behind the trim......
A bit of mucking about to make a panel to mount the "vents" under the dash...these are fresh air , and also heater vents.
( They are actually just a chrome sink fitting, that opens when you click/press on the middle of them.)
A very simple , but tidy idea from Scott Hampson.
All seems to be coming together...
Centre console, boot(Trunk), and carpet on the floors....then it's all done.
Cheers,
Warren.
