Waz I guess you'll be straddling the line between parking bays at the Red Rock next month so no-one can park too close! Don't worry mate, keep the coffee and toasted bacon sangers coming and I'll stay outside and keep an eye on it for you. I promise I won't tell people I own it--well not too many anyway!!!

Seriously the car's turned out beautifully and it's an absolute credit to all concerned. Shows what's possible when a guy has thought long and hard about a build and can relay clear directions to a master craftsman like Scotty, who is then able to meld those thoughts with some intuitive tweaking and fine tuning of his own to turn the dream into a stunning reality.

This car had to be special--and it is.

Wishing you good health this year and lots and lots of miles in your new baby.

Looks great in the photos Warren, and I can't wait to take some time to look over all of the tiny little details that you've sweated over.

To me it really looks like a concept car, showcasing what a top shelf Cobra would look like if it was built by FoMoCo in the same Modern/Retro theme as the Ford GT. Bloody beautiful!

Many thanks,
Yeah, Scotty did a good job,
Although the interior trim was the work of Kerry Morrow......
( he's probably done about 100 cobras over many years )...
He's done a beautiful job....even if he took forever to do it !!!

Cheers,
Warren

Bloody fantastic.

Pictures tell a thousand words. The more I look the more little details that I see. Its a credit to all involved , to Scotty and to your vision and the communication to have it executed right.

Cant wait to see this ..... however gotta be early as there will be 10 deep and the next b-fast.

Great looking car Wazza though Scotty doesn't look like he's quite finished yet but I'd heard you could be a bit premature sometimes.

Congratulations!!!

Love it Wazza - interior is a thing of beauty. the mix of suede and leather, the layout of the dash - As other have said - I think it looks a perfect modern cobra interior.

Cant wait to see it in the flesh - will it see any time on the track?

Cheers

Polish the crap out of it on weekends!!!!

Thanks for your very kind comments....

Track Time??.....I'm not supposed to even think about track time in this one, while I still have the race Cobra,

But,

Geez does it push you back in the seat when you touch that pedal on the far right.....

I'll be telling " she who must be obeyed", that in the interest of safety, I should stretch its legs on a track......just to make sure everything works correctly,

It's gotta happen hasn't it ??!!

Maybe I could enter in the " regularity " event at the Nationals....then go out and try to do "consistent" 1.05's:.........wank wank !!!!

Christ.......talk about putting me under pressure....

I'd better make sure it's clean for the first time I bring it...lol

Won't be at the march breakfast...racing at Warwick on that weekend...but fingers crossed I'll have it all ready for the April breakfast, and I will arrange a special run on the day....gotta get back to the head if the procession...it's been too bloody long.

Also...Many thanks for your very nice compliments...I really appreciate the thought.

Cheers,
Warren.

Hi Murray,

We changed the back springs twice...Started with the 300lbs....way too soft...went to 450, and FINALLY got what I had been saying all along ...650 lbs.

The Ford Thunderbird 8.8 IRS...according to the "book" uses 750 lb springs, but I recon that with the lighter car, 650lbs will work fine.

Went in to King Springs through the week, and they swapped them again...

Drove it this morning....MUCH better...felt really steady and solid on the road.

The fronts have always been 350 lbs King Springs....I think they'll be fine.

Cheers,
Warren.

Wazza, are you running 14" or 15" shocks in the front?

Warren,

I have exactly the same set up, but after a few runs have had wheels hitting guards etc... and it feels a bit like an American car, nice and wallowie on the road like it has marshmallows for springs.

I checked the spring rates and have 275 all around (KPS 189X5K 275lb on the front and QA1 10-275 on the rear). Was going to do 14-300 at the front and not sure about the rears after reading your note about 650lb. (was thinking about putting the front ones onto the rear as 12" is about right for the height but I have way too much pre-load at the moment)

Why so heavy on the rear and not so on the front? and what length and brand shockers are you running?.

Any information would be helpful.

Cheers

Lawrence

The rear suspension is the same as Factory Five offer as their "top of the range" option.

https://www.factoryfive.com/wp-conte...es-694x413.jpg

I THINK....The Harrison Cobras 'usually' have 350 lb front and 300lb rear.....but that is usually on live axle set ups.

( Maybe I'm wrong on that as well...'cause I've got 600lbs on the front , and 300lbs on the rear of my live axle Harrison Race Cobra...but that's not a NORMAL car. )

Now I don't have the detailed knowledge of how exactly all of the suspension is "worked out"...
but at least I can understand the way that the swinging arm of the Thunderbird IRS, has way more leverage on the compression of the springs, and subsequently would take much stronger springs than for instance a live axle set up.

Obviously it's not just about how much weight is in any particular corner of the car, but depending on the angle of the spring/shock, combined with what leverage the swinging axle is applying because of where the spring shock sits within that swing range...then...i guess...there's a mathematical formula to work out the correct spring rate.

But HOW to work it out ....No bloody idea .

That's it....That's all I got !!

I might be completely wrong...happy for someone to tell me different.

Cheers,
Warren.
