Not that sure Ben,

Been following this market for a while before deciding finally to jump in, so you get somewhat familiar as to what is around, its auction history and what would be reasonable to offer.

One went in Darwin for 65K recently...my understanding is that a low volume production vehicle with VIN and compliance plate (is the Robnell version not this?) would be considerably easier to register here than an ICV.

This car has been on the move through a few owners over the years for around this price give or take.

If this car could be reasonably considered as an appreciating asset as it accrues kilometers and age then I suppose the price is fair enough...but that leads to the question as to why someone has not jumped at it if it is "cheap" and why does no one want to keep the poor thing?

Hey guys,

I am new to this forum, i am the son of Phillip White,

He is a Victorian owner of Robnell Cobra Build: 8. (Some of you may see it around. Rego: COBRA-7, Dark Blue, Pearl White Stripe and pin stripes.

The main reason of my post is to shed some light on this car, it was a milestone for Robert Darnell in his early days for many reasons and i shall share a few:

1. It was the first car to be built with a Kevlar/Fibreglass body. Thus making the car much stronger and lighter.

2. It was the first 429ci Robnell to be built. It was built in 1990.

3. Once the build was completed it became Roberts "Promo" car so to speak and was used even on show at the Melbourne Motor show to promote the growing business. i will find out more info about this. (The old man is on a holiday at the moment)

Another interesting point not yet mentioned. There were only 12, 429 big blocks built from factory. (From my understanding)

Good one Lachie,
Look forward to hearing more.
My father inlaw was at the EPA in altona in those days and I remember seeing some of the Robnells being tested on the Dyno and one was possibly your car of which they struggled to stop it wheelspinning whilst doing the drive cycle.
