Qld Super Sprint series A
Super Sprints starts this weekend at Morgan Park (Warwick Qld)
Basically a boys weekend away where we can tootal around a race track filming each other
About 15 Cobras a GT40 , a Porsche cup car, a few SLRs (RCR) and a T70 Lola --for practice.
Rumours have it, that some of these Cobras have had some testosterone injections -- which should make for some interesting story telling at the apre' racing during the evenings

I can only spare the Saturday morning to come out.
But I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone and seeing the cars on track.

Aaaahh my little Towmaster buddy.....as you sleep on the other side of this wall ( we're all at pit stop lodge ), I'm already doing "practice laps" in my head.
Although I have a feeling that you will all be much quicker today, and my temporary bragging rites will be all over.
And although I'll be doing my best to make it last another day , you know me.... It's not about who beats who , and who's the fastest... It's all about spending quality time with all your mates.
Sound believable ???

We just had the BEST weekend....with a huge Cobra/GT40/RCR roll up
( about 20 vehicles as part of about 120 total entrants)
We had a great night at the Pit Stop Lodge last night with about 30 of us sitting around having plenty to eat and drink....and TONS of the Bulls*** being tossed about .
We had a good size gang from the N.S.W. Cobra Club, make the pilgrimage...great effort...with Brad STREETING kicking everyone's butt on his very fast Ride on Mower ( RCR SLR )....
Also we had some New faces ( Mario and Tony ) who had the time of their lives.
A brilliant weekend, with some INCREDIBLE times.
As a group of racers I recon we seem to be going in the right direction, with continued improvement, which is great to see ( If You are a Queenslander that is ! )
eg.
We look back on some old results from just a few years ago...and this track configuration could be raced around with the quickest cars in our group, taking 2minutes 35 seconds.....we considered this to be a REALLY quick time a few years ago.
Then we had a look at the last time we raced on it in 2009.
The same track configuration ( Turn Right Under the bridge)...was last raced on by us in 2009, and when we look back at the times , we had the fastest Cobra coming in at 2minutes 27 secs, and the second fastest @ 2minutes 28 seconds.
At that meeting, these times were enough to be overall 2nd, and 3rd. fastest cars at the meeting...
( With about 120 competing, and includes open wheelers/formula vehicles)...
and we thought we had reached a point where we couldn't really improve much more.
THIS weekend.....there were THREE Cobras that recorded 2 minutes 25 seconds...and LOADS of times recorded in the 2min 26secs. , and 2min 27secs.
Wayne Proctor was the fastest COBRA with a 2min 25.16 secs.....with Brad Streeting the quickest OTHER car...a blistering 2min.24 !!!!
Well done and huge congrats to you both.
I know a few seconds doesn't sound like much....but once you get to the pointy end of the competition ONE TENTH of a second is considered a good improvement...and here we are knocking two and three seconds off what we thought were as fast as we were ever going to go....and approximately 10 full seconds quicker than just a few years ago.
So HUGE congratulations to everyone for making this series such a load of fun....
already looking forward to the next one in April.
Cheers,
Warren.

Sounds like a terrific weekend.
I couldn't attend because we had a family get together to celebrate my dear old mum's 94th birthday.
Congrats to the Proctologist who from the sound of things showed only his rear end to the competition.

That's VERY quick...
I Recon that it's worth noting that the Cobra guys and gals rate pretty well ...
Just had a look at both A Series ,and B Series....
Same track , similar hot conditions.....
The combination of approximately 220 entrants....
and the TOP 10.....combined result is as follow:
1. Geoff Noble Turbo Honda Lotus 2min 19.42
2. Brad Streeting RCR SLR 2 min 24.72 (Cobra Club N.S.W.)
3. Wayne Proctor COBRA 2 min 25.16 ( Cobra Club Qld)
4. Warren Boylan COBRA 2 min 25.68 (Cobra Club Qld)
5. Scott Hampson COBRA 2 min 25.85 (Cobra Club Qld)
6. Mick Cullum Unknown 2 min 26.00
7. Paul Gillis RCR SLR 2 min 26.78 (Cobra Club Qld)
8. Peter Brown Unknown 2 min 26.79
9. Eric Roth Porsche 2 min 27.14 (Cobra Club Qld)
10. Sean Streeting RCR SLR 2 min 27.99 (Cobra Club N.S.W.)
And we ( Cobras Club Members) filled a lot of the top 30 spots as well.....
Really impressed, and quite proud....
we kicked some serious butt !!!....
NOT that we go there for anything other than the "cameraderie"....
Cheers,
Warren.

Yes, a lot of cars really have the wick turned up now and so reliability is affected until they sort it all out. Even then you are still pushing the limits.
Sometimes it's better to keep things simple.
And sometimes you just get unlucky.
Certainly a bad weekend for DNF's.
