Tiny steps forward - Slowy's rebuild
Thought I'd post a few photos of my heater air box now modified with the electric solenoid to control air flow direction.
Plan is to have the choice of air to windscreen, feet or both.
The swap to electric actuation has needed some time to modify all the bits I'd set up previously. Being in Adelaide each week for the month has hindered forward progress.
As mentioned in other threads the servo system is care of Vintage Air.
Three photos following show progression left - mid - right of the vent slide as decided by the rotary switch.
Side view of set up
End view of air box
Just got to finish modifiying the whole support structure for the heater and plumb it up then I can move onto another part of the slow rebuild.
Enjoy.
Steve

Yes timing is pissing me off now.
But we just passed an external certification audit today at the main site I've been supporting so that's a huge step forward towards escape back to Victoria

Shameless plug.. be sure to contact me if you are unhappy with your external certification provider...
I found with my car things take so much longer than you expect them to. Where is the original heater you used from?

Zedn mate if SAI Global keep on certifying us it is hard to be unhappy. But their continued engagement is my boss's choice I suspect.
In any case this audit happened without any gap, internal or pre-audit testing to see if I had really closed all the potential holes in the system. So this makes me really happy. More a case of get them now or in several months, so it had to be done.
Anyway the heater I am using is a red dot which I think are generally those destined for use in excavators and the like.
Just has an open face so I folded the airbox out of aluminium to fit over the front with the two outlets and a slide to vary flow between either or share at a variable amount either way.
Plan is to copy the Vintage air black anodised 4 switch set they sell with black knobs and a black anodised backing plate etched with the control signs for a cluster of four control knobs.
This will generally match the white on black gauges and keep the dash to a fairly constant colour theme too.

Do you mean hard not to be unhappy? It all comes down to the auditor some are good some not so good.
We are in the process of setting up an office in Melbourne and after 2 years of hard work we just got our JASANZ accreditation.
The heaters looking good.

Yes hate those double negatives I am happy!!
Think our bloke was pretty pragmatic which is good but our larger system has been well tested over a few years now.
It boils down to the local words and local yokels (strains of duelling banjoes comes to mind - DoH) as to whether they are following the words, seems to have passed muster on both counts.
Who are you with?
As to the heater it will look best once installed and I am onto the next bits.
Cheers
Steve

Yeh right, if you spend any more time in Adelaide you'll need to start renting a place to stay in.
Regards.
