iT'S BEEN A LONG WAIT.
The RTA initially inspected my Cobra on 27th May, 2010. It was knocked back on an alleged 29 items which didn't comply with the ADR's. These were rectified within a month. I then had to wait for my Engineer to supply his second report. It fianlly arrived today, 8 months after my initial inspection. It's now with the RTA so all I can do is wait for a date for my second inspection. Patience is a virtue, especially in NSW.
A tip for future builders. Don't pay your Engineer a cent until after your car is registered.

Baz, not trying to stir the pot here so please dont take it that way.
But I am sure you have heard the old saying "you get more flys with honey than vinegar"
Sometimes it is a good idea to bite your tongue till all is said and done.
In any case, good luck with it and hope you see some plates soon.

Good luck Baz a really hope this is it.
r.e paying the engineer. Thats fine if its a fixed price, but my engineer charges by the hour and requires payment at the end of the consultation. I dont think there is any engineers doing fixed price ICVs at the moment. Well that is certainly how it was back in August last year and i can only imagine it has got worse with the recent changes.

Dave,
I'm not taking you the wrong way, but if you haven't noticed, I have been
real quiet for some time. This thread is merely to bring you guys up to date with my current situation, as I know there are people in NSW that are really interested in where my process is heading.
If I get knocked back again on the next RTA inspection with the NSW State Elections just around the corner in under 4 weeks, well then you will see the VINEGAR come out and the fly swatter will go into action, big time.

Baz,
As I have a build still in progress this is great to hear, hope it all happens soon for you.
It's been a long wait.
Best of luck, keep us informed.

I was advised by the RTA yesterday that my Engineer hasn't answered all the responses that they require to be clarified in their initial knock-back report. When they have time, they will be returning the report to my Engineer for further clarification. After my Engineer eventually responds to these, his report goes on the bottom of the pile of outstanding RTA jobs and I wait to have the car inspected for the second time. As I am going into hospital in two weeks to have my other knee replaced, and I won't be able to drive for 3 months, it looks like around June before any thing will be achieved. I'm pretty pissed off at the moment.

Disappointing Baz. It must be almost the perfect report, however. Will be interesting to hear what they still have problems with. It is just as well that surgical procedures don't involve as much paper work. All the best.

Unfortunately it wont matter what the engineer puts in his report as there will be further testing required based on the RTAs current position/requirements.

Baz,
did you get to read the report the engineer sent with his answers before it went?
Just wondering if the engineer in your opinion answered the questions or not.

My Engineer is Kevin Humphries from Wyong. He has retired from ICV's and is only concentrating on Motor Home Construction now. He has given me verbal confirmation that he will stick with me and also a Clubman which he done and which has similar RTA issues to my car, until both cars have been registered.
I didn't get to read his full report as sent to the RTA. He stated that it was too large for my server to handle. He only sent me 6 pages containing some of the explanations. I have requested and am still waiting for him to send me the entire report by mail. I'm pretty used to waiting by now.

Baz,
did you do anything about ADR 42: rear bumper ends were not turned towards the body of the vehicle?

What a drama Baz, the RTA really are something else.......sounds like the engineer is maybe out of his depth.
I've been waiting for Qld Transport for 5 weeks to get approval paperwork back to my engineer, then its about another 5 or 6 for an inspection appointment.
Your case makes authorities here look efficient
Hang in there (no much else you can do)
