Default Biggest loser contestant.

My car weighs just over 1400KGs with 1/2 tank of fuel and without me in it............

Never corner weighted car, but I am keen to get that done.

My car 392 stroker windsor with alloy heads,Me in it and 20 litres of fuel.Front left 292.5Kg Front right 315.7Kg Rear left 348.2Kg and rear right 364.2.Total 1320Kg.The main thing is from F/Left to R/Right is656.7Kg and from F/Right to R/Left is663.9.This tells you that from Left to right turns it is close to neutral.Would love to be around the 1100Kg.

There seems to be a fair bit of variation in the thickness of the CR body shells over time. Perhaps Ian was trying different fiberglass shops for his glass work. Mine is fairly thin in the body shell compared to many I've seen so that may be a factor. I had no carpet or creature comforts apart from seats and a steering wheel for rego so that will also account for a lot of the weight.

The last time I weighed the car was at the drags, I was shocked.

I think it is a lot of things that get it there.

1. A bare Dart block is 72kgs.
2. Billet wheels, much heavier than most cast 2 /3 piece.
3. SFI scattershileld, it's made out of 1/4 inch plate.
4. Big brakes 365mm fronts, ducting.
5. Sway bars front and rear.
6. I have a fully functioning heater/demister
7. Power steering.
8. The NOS gear, extra fuel pump,extra fuel tank, reg, solenoids, plumbing.
9. The aluminium work, air filter, surge tank, windscreen washer, 5ltr catch can.

I agree with Mike , my kit was when Ian was playing arround with fiberglassing, I remember cuting the hoop holes and the fiberglass was a good 20mm thick!!!!!

I havent weighed mine yet, been meaning to.

Phil my CR body was pretty thick at the Hoop holes as well. Also I think one of the CR guys at ShelbyFest mentioned the internal guards were a new addtion on the new chassis/body.

Will be interested to see if the new chassis makes it lighter or heavier. (I also have underbody exhaust and fake side pipes - so that will add to it)

I believe that Robnells are a quite a lot heavier than more recent builds. They have amazingly thick 'glass. Not having (inactive) side pipes, power steering or a heater would seem to help as well. Not sure what side pipes actually weigh?

My Robnell weighed in at just over 1100kg, no side pipes, but it did have the underbody exhaust for rego. I reckon the side pipes will weigh slightly less than the full exhaust !!! When I cut the holes in the rear deck for the roll bars it was about 15mm thick, so yes they are pretty solid, but bear in mind an amount of that is kevlar, although i'm not sure what the difference in weight would be if they only used glass, if any. Oh, and I do have power steering as well.

True Kyle. The Kevlar would make a difference. I was very impressed with Russ's Robnell construction. Having both sidepipes and underbody exhaust would be a penalty.

My Harrison with the T56 and L98 and a 1/4 tank came in at 1060kgs, with an R33 rear end, but its not painted yet! Also weight gain between metallic and non metallic paint may be a factor.

There's probably cheaper and easier ways to remove weight. Probably easier to just add HP.

My CR weighed in at 1060KG at rego with a half tank of fuel. Not sure on the front rear split. I got it through rego with no windscreen so probably saved a few KG there with out all the stuff that goes with it i.e wipers, heater etc.

It's got a windscreen and wipers now but I've removed a heap of weight from the rear by making tubular rear arms. It'll be interesting to see what it weighs again when it's all done.

1050kg all up incl. 1/2 (50 L) tank of fuel -- and getting lighter as things wear out or fall off

I'm not doubting what you say Rog it just seemed surprising that's all.

I guess it's reasonable, I just checked and an aluminum LS1 block weighs about 55KG
The LQ9 Iron block (Same as the LS1 except 4" bore) weighs 93Kg. That's a 38KG difference.

My Homebush fibreglass with custom chassis and alloy headed 460BB weighed in at 550 front and 590 rear 1140kg ...no fuel underfloor exhaust at first weigh in for rego....since then added paint an change to active side pipes ....Front of block is 380mm behind centreline of front axle custom firewall

My wifes Contemporary with 351 Cleveland, top loader & Jag running gear weighs 1120kg.

It's fully painted and trimmed with all accessories. That's with 40lt fuel and tonneau cover, car cover, towels and I'm sure there is a girlie emergency kit in there somewhere.

I forgot to write down the front to rear weight bias, but it was only slightly heavier in the front.

Had the Cobra corner weighed today. Was carrying less fuel, maybe 15 litres in total.



LF/RR cross weight is not flash, RR is heavy. No, the driver was not in the car


Didn't do any adjustments at this stage as we're looking to get some more castor first.

That's not as heavy as Phil Mizzi's .....

Earlier in this thread Phil was saying his weighed 1,400 kg....

That's about 3,080 pounds !!

Pretty heavy Cobras.....all that H.P. and Bling hey Phil ??
