Thumbs down Richard Cranium in a Cobra

Cobra, red with white stripes seen on Epping Road, Marsfield Saturday 28th May, weaving in and out of lanes, sitting at red light in Bus lane, doing massive burnout and cutting back into next lane.A vast majority of Cobra drivers respect their fellow road users, the road rules and their car. All you succeeded in doing was give all other sensible Cobra owners a "hoon" image and attract our cars to the law for constant harrassment.
Whoever you are ( NSW Rego - "XGODX"), either grow up or get rid of the Cobra.

DADNDAVE . I agree with you in regard to this "hoon" but with that number plate "XGODX" I beleive it translates to "WANKER" An accident waiting to happen .

That car was advertised for sale recently, he had a lot of money on it, I cant recall the price. Apparently it belonged to Rene Rivkin at one stage and I think it was the first Robnell built in conjuction with Caroll Shelby on his well documented Moonee Ponds sojourn

Here's a cutting from an article in 1996 , when Rivkin bought it.

Sounds like the same car.

Friday July 12, 1996

Fun machines are now the rage at the preloved fine car auctions, writes PETER McKAY. Rene Rivkin has just gone wild with a V8 Cobra.

BRISTLING with mobile phones and emitting more smoke than an out-of-tune government bus, Rene Rivkin breezed into the Pickles auction of fine cars and motorcycles fashionably late last Monday, took a seat four rows from the front, and walked away the owner of a replica AC Cobra.

The rumbling, V8-powered, bright red beast, all sonorous exhaust noise and mean attitude, is not a machine usually associated with the high-profile stocks purveyor.

His personal transport is usually a graceful Bentley Azure, an elegant Ferrari 456 or perhaps a painfully trendy Harley-Davidson.

But a 1987 Robnell Cobra roadster, replete with rollover bar and massive chromium side pipes which pump out a sound closer to Le Mans than le stock exchange?

Are we seeing the rambunctious side of Rivkin emerging? The lair, the bodgie? Is a tattoo next?

In any case, Rivkin has purchased a drive on the wild and primitive side for just $42,500, or one-twelfth the cost of his Ferrari.

This car is obviously one of only a handful of special Cobras in this country with some sort of history or heritage, or in this case probably notoriety.

Let's hope that the incident as described was one of temporary over-enthusiasm on the part of the owner and not indicative of his usual style of driving. It would be a shame to see this car irreparably damaged.

I'm guessing the owner is not a club member. Perhaps some of the Sydney boys could locate him and have a quiet chat with him. It may achieve something, maybe not. If he's a good guy he might be interested in becoming a member. If he's a goose he might be interested in selling the car to someone who would appreciate owning a Cobra with this one's background, someone perhaps who has just finished building a ginormous shed with ample space for it to live in.

Why do you say that?

I think that 99% of the guys in here use there Cobra on the street in a sensable way, and keep the racing to the track.

Is it your car?

Box Head - Dead right, trouble is the other 1% always ruin it for the majority. This "person" was completely off the planet with his blatant disregard for any other road user. Obviously uses his car as a replacement for where else he may be lacking.
Iva Bigan - Not saying all of us haven't at some time given our car a little bit, but usually it's out on the open road where there is plenty of road - not in heavy traffic.

Boxhead.

No your honour, it was not my car.
What i do know is that you do not install a 5,6,or 7 litre v8 some blown and turbo'ed to drive calmly down to the shop to get the milk, and wait 12 or so months to put it on the track to give it a fang.
I think you are correct in saying 99% of people on here do the right thing on our roads, but only 75% of the time.
In these cars there is an overwhelming urge to give it a kick in the guts every now and again, thats why we build them.
SO HE WHO HATH NO SIN MAY CAST THE FIRST STONE.

Time and place for everything, A busy suburban street is not such thing.

I will admit to "kicking it in the guts" but only on deserted roads, with no passeners.
Not a suburban street, with traffic everywhere.
