I don't think ASRF would really have a particular opinion seeing as they have their own options to register just about anything they deem "COOL"

You won't have the same licence to build to a car to a comic strip picture(Rat Rods)....which by the way I love!!!....the car under the 45/90 would be to restrictive for what some would want ,though again for those basic rods and Customs it could well be an attractive option....
As for not having to be a member again I believe most are members because of 1. the scene and the protection ASRF Membership offers when customising or building!!

Credit to the ASRF, they banded together to achieve an outcome. You may have heard that members of the Cobra fraternity are also working together in the background towards a similar goal. They're not very active on the forums because as we've seen there's a lot of misinformation and BS talk that just doesn't help the cause.

As for the 45/90 day permit, I considered it briefly but I know the day will come when I want to drive it more regularly or even sell it and that's the real value in a fully engineered and registered car. Go through the pain now and you never have to worry about it again, even if the rego lapses.

My old Alfa is on Conditional Registration, with a log book, overseen by my car club.
I have seen it mentioned on Club Cobra about Conditional Registration for ICVs in Australia.
I’m not aware if this scheme is operating here in South Australia. Can anybody enlighten me?
Being able to use a car for 90 days per year in effect means being able to drive it every Sat. & Sun. for 45 weeks of the year. That’s fantastic (and cheap too!)
Surely having an ICV on Conditional Rego would require the vehicle to be compliant to the relevant ADRs before it could go onto Condition Rego, though?
Can anybody give me more information, and particularly on the SA situation, but also what is the situation interstate?

I have my cobra and my 32 coupe and thay are both have 90 day rego and the cobra has been on SR rego for 10 years and it went on to 90 day automaticly and it is great i am a ASRF member and i worked on the rego scheme for a few years in the beginning and now there is 50 clubs that can sign the car of for rego the main club that stuck with it is the OMAC and we have them to thank.

I must admit, I'm a fan of the 90day permit concept.
Now if I want a cobra as a daily driver all I need to do is build 4.
That will help solve the problem of what colour to paint the beast

But which State do you live in?
Does anybody know if the 90 day conditional rego that encompasses Cobra replicas is operational in all States, or just some?
Are the compliance conditions for conditional rego different to those for full rego?

Funny, when I was building my Cobra I wrote to the ASRF asking about Jag rear ends. NO reply. So I wrote again using another name and address stating I was building a 32 Tudor with a Jag rear end and got heaps of info about modifying and fitting a Jag rear end. Do they care about the motorsport other than themselves ? I doubt it.

We dont have any club rego schemes in SA and the option of 90 day rego period is for a fully registered and compliant plated veh. Street rods operate under a different regulation, as do trikes and historic vehs. Not sure what BMK (SA based) was refering to?
