Default The eternal question

So, the donk is sorted, suspension is on the way, the car will be stripped by Monday week and then it's booked into the panel shop on the first of July. They will paint inside the wheel arches, boot, engine bay and the exterior. All of it

BUT! I am still undecided on the exterior colour and I need to get the paint ordered so it will be ready in time and I would really appreciate some input.

Perhaps you have had your cobra painted and then lamented your choice? Or maybe you are considering changing the colour or the stripes?

Originally I was thinking Titan Silver (BMW colour) with charcoal stripes with small pinstripes but since it's not yet locked in and there seem to be allot of silver cobras around.....

The wheels are not being retained so I would also appreciate any input on this front, perhaps something to compliment the paint? They would need to be 17" 's. Not halibrands but I like deep dish...

Cheers.

Very hard for someone else to say, cause then it is there car, how they want it.
This is your car, do it how you want it, even if that is purple with pink stripes.

Don't let the popularity of a particular colour deter you from doing the same.

Personally it is great to build and style the Cobra exactly as you want it, but I always feel if you don't want to throw money away when the car is sold, you need to keep resale value in the back of your mind as well.

Silver with charcoal stripes is a terrific choice though, go for it...

I've chosen a Glasurit 'blue'. Reasonably dark but spectacular on curved surfaces. BUT I'm also impressed by White Cobras, Red Cobras, Guardsman Blue Cobras, Subaru Blue Cobras and Gunmetal Grey Cobras.........GO with your first decision. It's usually the right one.

There are an amazing threads on the US Forum sites that cover every possible colour. I found them very useful when I was deciding.

I thought that I had been through too many silver cars and went for ... BMW Dark Silver

2003 BMW M3 SMG Dark silver with black interior. 80k miles

Rob, I looked that up and found a Cobra with a Nissan 350Z variant of Glasurit blue, very nice.

iforged-1's 1965 Shelby Cobra - Cerritos, CA

Thanks for the replys folks, I have been pretty set on my colour choice for quite a while now, I just thought "don't wanna die wonderin' ".

sambo, those wheels look fantastic although they are 19" 's. I wonder what the 17" 's would look like? And the $$$ ?

No idea mate, personally I've never liked the modern treatment on classic muscle, it devalues the original "look".

Sambo, That's not the colour I've chosen but that's really nice ( now I'm re-thinkin again )
My glasurit colour is.....GmbH 5*16*60.00 It has no name but it looks like the '07 commodore "ocean blue" but much darker and richer. Amazing on curvy surfaces.
