Vent holes yes, but must have a filter of some kind to keep the dust and critters out.

What's your prediction Peter? I'll say $49M USD on the hammer. Some say it could get closer to $60M.
Unreal!

Craig, I sincerely hope it doesn't go over $20m. As pleasing as these cars are to the eye (once described as an automotive representation of a naked Sophia Loren lying on her side) I really like to see and hear them sliding around Laguna Seca, Goodwood, etc, with a bunch of Cobras and Aston Martins.
The more expensive they become the more likely they will be seen purely as a piece of art to be kept in a museum.
Unfortunately I don't think my hopes will be realised and my guess is a hammer price around $33m. Remember for each $10m there is a $1m commission to be paid on top.
I hope there are some Aussie bidders over there to bring that Tasman T246 Ferrari back here. Also, wouldn't it be great if the BT33 was bought by an Aussie, we could bookend Sir Jack's cars by placing it next to his speedway midget...Tell him he's dreamin'.

Back to the real world of kit cars, oops, sorry... hand crafted automobiles.
With suggestions from forum members I have been able to shape a rubber rain channel for inside the boot (trunk).
I just have to clear the mess off the dining room table before the boss gets home!

Like most of us here in Oz, except Boxhead in Alice, I've been going stir crazy with the rain of the last two weeks. I did however get to sort out one of those simple issues which aways seems to take me hours and hours of procrastination to address. In this case is was the driving lights.
Original Marchals cost about the same as the rest of the car combined but they have a unique style of mounting bolt - out the back of the casing - which makes it hard to buy something off-the-shelf. I found some low cost lights on eBay which fitted the opening and had a metal casing which I could modify to suit.
Ground off the heads of the rivets holding the original mounts and drilled a hole in the back of the casing.
I welded a washer (spreader plate) to the head of a 10mm bolt and poked it through the back of the casing and tack welded. I turned down the head of the bolt to have clearance to the lamp itself.
I spread a bit of plasticine on the back of the opening in the bodywork and pressed in the light to find the location for the mounting hole.
I slapped a bit of paint on the retaining ring to give it a Marchal look. Happy with the outcome.

Still avoiding some of the bigger tasks but it's good just to fiddle around sometimes.
Cabin air takes sit at the rear of the bonnet.
Wandered around Bunning looking for something with the right profile. I nearly bought a toilet brush holder but found a bit of sewer pipe that was just right. I cut off the bit I needed.
I glued it to a bit of board and added some timber.
Filled the cavity with Plaster of Paris.
Removed the mould and cut off a piece of Plexiglass.
Into the oven
Shaping in the oven.
With a bit of trimming it should be just like a bought one.
How it should look finished. I looked through a few book and it looks like they were all hand made - the shapes seemed to vary on all 36 cars.

Delicious, we went to the pub!
I've been told WE are to spend today looking at new flooring for the kitchen. Those intakes are going to end up costing me thousands...

I can't believe the difference the bling items make. As much as I've pictured it in my mind a thousand times, when they are actually attached to a painted body all the pain and cost issues are wiped away.

Desperate to do anything other than bodywork. Here is the latest avoidance activity.
Ferrari have two knobs on the valve covers. They are just grab knobs and the cover is actually secured by bolts around the base. Two of the four centre line securing bolts on the LS1 line up close enough with the Ferrari grab knobs so I've made up some items to make it all work. I just hope there is enough pressure to seal the cover sufficiently.
I used the spacer from the original LS1 covers
Replica Ferrari knobs are about $40 each, plus postage. I got 20 delivered to my door from China for $9:41. I used a vice, a hammer and a bastard file to create a knurl on the knob.
All done.
I painted the covers with crinkle black and they looked awful. I've taken it all off and might try crinkle finish powder coating.

It does look nice. I showed my wife the pics; "this what we can build next after the Cobra - it can be your car!" I said.
She says, "what's that? A 260Z?"
I kid you not - she must be a natural! :-)
Must say, if I was selling a car around that price point I would spend a little more time on the ad, and pretty that up a little too!
