Mando
i have just had a go at uploading pictures for the first time so if look at them in my prifile you should be able to see two shots. I hope to put more up now i think I have sucessfully done two.
As for tyres i went with Kumho ecsta XS in 18's as I found very few tyre options in 17inch size and width I wanted so felt like I had to go to 18's.Tyre size as follows with prices paid plus freight on top. 245/40R18 KUMHO ECSTA XS 275/35R18 KUMHO ECSTA XS
SUBTOTAL: $768.00
FREIGHT: $284.59

Am very happy with my rims from Vintage Wheels Inc. They now make two piece wheels which should make achieving the correct offset easier.
Cheers

When Vintage wheels started with two piece rims i thought problem solved but the front off set is still a problem for CR cars . The rears are easy and i think by memory it was suggested that about 25mm extra offset was needed to meet there minimum manufacturing off set.
Thanks for the feed back on the pictures Box head , I just can't wait to drive the sucker !!

Dragway may now be an option for me, the wheels I have seen in the past from them have not impressed me, but that Cobra 10 Spoke looks ok in the pics.

I have Vintage wheels on my Classic revival with spinner centres , they will fit but you need to make new front hubs.

I thought CR use Commodore hubs? Same as the Harrison.

Depends on the Generation of chassis Geoff,
My 2nd gen chassis uses Jag front components and AU Falcon rear. Ian's new chassis uses hubs from the VE commodore all round I believe. The rear end on the new chassis is a bit narrower but I think the front is about the same.
Cheers

Thanks Mike.
So Modena's chassis has a jag front end if Vintage Wheels do not fit.
Cheers

Scoob, I love the look of the outer rim used on the 18" rims, they're just great. The centres are the same as used in the 17" rims. A guy I know here in Adelaide has 18" OZ Wheels on his Cobra but with about 3" on the front and about 6" on the rear. They look magnificent. I asked OZ Wheels what sort of cost would be involved to use my centres to make a set of 18" wheels and he came back to me with a whopping $2400. I figured for that sort of money I'd be better off getting 17" knock on's from Vintage wheels and adapting them to my front end as Aussie Mike has. I haven't dealt with OZ Wheels for about 18 months but they were still OK back then.
How about posting some pic's of your car, it's great to see how different people do things!
Ptrefry, can you show us what your new hubs look like as well as your knock on wheels? Thanks.
Regards.

So that's the same front end as a Harrison, mine at least, except I think Ian uses a double wishbone setup where Warwick retains the radius rod. I'm curious why Bob Lacy thinks he can't supply wheels unless there is an offset issue that I'm missing.
Cheers

the front is a VZ hub, with custom made double wishbones. The offset for the front is an ET of 38mm. For the recommended 8" wheel that is 5.5" from inside of inner-tyre-bead to inside of face, and 2.5" from inside of outer-tyre-bead to outside of face.

My wheels are OZwheels but I supplied them with Pin drive adapters I got from Superformance and they machined the centers to fit.
I agree with you Mando, the 18" rims on 17" centers look good. The angled step rather than rounded from the center to the rim looks much better.
I probably could have added another 1/2" of dish on the front but I don't like the look where the edge of the tyre is right near the lip of the guard. I like the tyres to tuck in and not rub anywhere.
As for the difference between the Harrison and CR front end, they are probably both built with different suspension pickup locations. The CR runs a wider front with a lot of offset on the wheels to reduce the scuff radius.
Someone here may have a picture of a Harrison front wheel.
Cheers

Mike, can the dish on the front be improved by manufacturing new hubs or anything else that may be required and keep the axle standard?
Regards.

Yep, I could have change the offset when I made my hubs but I already had the wheels built at that stage.
Paul Trefry has recently machined new front hubs to increase the offset and installed shorter stub axles. Hopefully he'll get on here and post some pics when it's all back together.
Cheers

Mike, how many mm do you think you can gain?
Paul, any chance of posting some pic's of what you've done so far? Is the shorter stub axle of the shelf or something machined up to suit?
Something else I noticed was that the bolt holes in my wheels have been drilled into the thicker section of alloy where as scoob has his drilled into the thinner section.
Regards.

FYI: The new chassis is VZ front Hubs with Ian's upper and lower arms and VE rear with standard lower and Ian's upper arms. I dont know why Ian didnt use VE front hubs.
