Mando, I think the length is the same just the bearing sizes are different. Ideally the version with the thicker stub axle is the go as it will flex less.

Hi Mike, I went into the Jag website on Zedn's post and under XJ Models then Suspension they show the different sizes and 1 made from chromoly.
What would be involved to increase the front dish by 25 - 30mm?

You would need to machine custom stub axles that are shorter in length and machine up some new shorter hubs with the mounting flange set back the right amount.
The limitation as to how far you can move back is the clearance needed between the back of the disc rotor and the top ball joint. You can only go so far back before your disc hits the ball joint. Then you also need to leave sufficient clearance between the face of the disc and the wheel mounting flange for clearance to get the caliper in there.
It'd take some careful measuring and machining but I reckon you might get 25mm extra out of it.

At the moment 1 or more of the nuts used to hold the 3 piece rim together just nick the side of the caliper but hasn't caused any problems.

Mando,
Hoppers Stoppers have a brake conversion for Jags that has a 22mm inset.
Not sure if they make any kits that fit inside 15" wheels though.

Hi Ben, I'll give them a call next week but on the OZ Wheel thread Ptrefry shows his car with new machined hubs, knock on adaptors and Vintage Wheels. Really impressive work!

Yes, I was over at Paul's the other day for a look.
One of the cleverest and most artistic guys I have met.
Has a screw loose though, he still races motorcross.

I was actually asked a few years back to ride in a team for a mates bike shop.
The thought of sitting on 170 kph on a dirt bike through the unknown is a little too crazy for me.

Not many of them get injured (yeah right)

The track is different to a few years ago, in that the road section (high speed) is now gone, that slowed them down, but at the same time I heard they have taken the tops of most of the whoops, so that section is faster than before.
Race times indicate a faster overall track this year.

Our local world champion speedway rider Leigh Adams thought that since he retired in January that this year would be the year to do the Finke.
Fate would have it after a stack during practice, he may be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life. A bit of a shock for someone who has spent the best part of 20+ years as a professional bike racer.

Hi all,
First time poster from the 40 fraternity. Building a scratchbuild.
Using Jag uprights, and have used undrilled hubs from a caravan/trailer shop (Holden, I think) which use the same bearings as the Jag. I have had to turn them down a little to get the bearings to fully seat on the stub axles, but all looks good.

Hi Clive, looks great. I would love to see more of your build as I'm sure all the other guys would. If you are planning to to do this you might consider starting a new THREAD and each time you post some information or pic's of your build return to the same thread. Some of the American guys have done this and as time goes by it's great to go back and see what you've done.
