Pussies.
I used to take the old VJ Valo from cobar to louth doing close to a ton. Rip an exhaust off here and there and reshape the sump but keep going. After rain it was 6 inches of slop, then it was a slow zigzag all the way.
Not a good advert for MB, and definitely nothing to boast about. 70 kms is an epic fail.
Will our army end up like the NZ navy if we get them?

Cruising at 130.
In all honesty, the roads out there really do put your gear through extreems.
I have seen cars literaly shaken apart, bodies cracked to the point that you can grab a guard and move it 3 inches. Many shockies with blown seals, broken shrouds, broken shafts. snapped coil springs, cracked rims, bull bars crack and fall off (I have a 150 series Prado that has torn out alloy bull bar at spotlights) snapped diff housings (all cases I am listing are vehicles less than 3 years old) spare wheel carriers fall off etc etc.

Tenroccas PM inbox would be tougher and more inhospitable than the outback.
