Car inspection - Sydney
Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone lives near Beverly Hills, Sydney that could have a look at a car for me?
Just needs to be a "kick the tyres and sit in" type of inspection as the car is through a dealer and I am waiting for the owner of another car (in QLD) to return from holidays before I book flights to go and inspect them myself.
The dealer isn't aware of details if the frame is strectched to allow for taller persons etc so just wanted to avoid spending money on flying there if it isn't going to fit.
Please PM me if your able to help.
Cheers
Sean

Hi Sean,
I know the place you are talking about and just had a look at their website.
Its advertised as 2008 except it is carby so check the engineers papers carefully as either the date is incorrect or there has been an engine swap after engineering.
I will be going out that way to see a client on the 30th. Let me know if you want me to drop in.

Yep it is that one but I saw it in Car Point first.
2008 AC COBRA Cars For Sale in NSW - CarPoint Australia cobra&__Ntk=CarAll&__Nne=15&__Dx=mode matchany&__No=15&__D=ac cobra&silo=1011&seot=1&__sid=1311D7163572&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32|1||pCar_Price_Decima l|1||pCar_Make_String|0||pCar_Model_String|0&__Ntx =mode matchallpartial&Cr=7&__Ntt=ac cobra&trecs=30&__Qpb=1
I phoned the dealer earlier in the week when I saw it on CarPoint and when Leigh advised me that he saw it on eBay so I called the dealer again to confirm.
They are looking to have this sold by the end of the week and whilst ebay has no reserve they are looking for over $45k on it. So I'm sure the "we have this listed elsewhere and if sold prior to end of auction we reserve the right to remove from sale..." will come into play if it is under the expected price.
I saw the engineering report and it was built through Adelaide Cobra based on a Classic Glass Cars body / chassis (which may mean this is much older than the 2008 date of engineering certification?), the VIN checks out through motor registry.
Zedn, I'm not sure if it will sell over the weekend so I don't want you to go out of your way for nothing but if you can check it out it would be great. It may make my negotiation position better allowing for it not selling. Thanks.
Sean

On the petrol engine with carbie and later compliance.
One guy out here in Alice, built one of teh Wooley cars, he fitted a 302 from a truck that was built for the Japanese market.
This motor had more air pumps etc than anything I have ever seen, so maybe, just maybe there was more than 1 that went through at the same time?
From memory the one in Alice was complied in SA approx 2004/05

Car went for $40,100 which is a good pickup from the buyer.
So much for the deal at $44k that I needed to match to win the car!!!

That is a very good deal. There is definately something up with it having a carby motor in 08 though.

So Seano, did you bid?
I mean if you knew he wanted 44k then if you where keen and felt the price was right, then surely you bid on it? And should be happy to keep the 3k in your pocket.

Nah I am not one to be pressured into buying anything (it is my job in real life to spend other peoples money) so I am like a frog's ar$e, water tight, when it comes to spending my own money so I choose to wait as there is more to be gained in patience!
Also it was through a dealer who phoned me several times about wether I was putting an offer in and that it maybe sold prior to auction ending, it was like they were a real estate agent trying to sell me a house so I new the $44k was an aspirational amount.
I had asked about the car before it went onto ebay so in having 5 days to make a call which is my second choice car wasn't for me. If it didn't go on ebay I may have flown over to check it out but don't need to do that now.
The AC I'm looking at is in QLD and the seller is on holidays at the moment so when he returns I need to get the RWC in SA cleared up (as I promised I needed that before negotiating on price) else I will go for BMK's Mustang!
I can always build my AC later on my own terms (and who knows ACC members may have second hand cars for sale in the future too!) as much as I wil make the sacrifice, the kids are young enough to enjoy crusing etc so 4 seats are better than 2 at this stage (would prefer 1 but that is another story).

With a family in tow, SWMBO will be far happier with more than 2 seats.

A classic....and often used phrase from one of my favourites...
Rumpole of the Bailey....
His wife Hilda was often referred to as.....
She who must be obeyed !!!.....or....S.W.M.B.O.
Cheers,
Warren.

Ahh I know that well.
SWMBO sometimes uses the quote from "My Big Fat Greek wedding", the man maybe the head but the wife controls the neck and points the head in whatever direction she wants...
