Default Auto shop in Melbourne

I am wondering if any of the Vic guys can point me in the direction of an aftermarket auto shop, on the northern side of town, or if need be in town.
I had been wanting to buy a smaller suede gripped steering wheel, but ran out of time before setting off ( and being fearful it may turn up after I left).
Who should I call to check on stock?

Revolution Racegear is your best bet, they're in Mitcham (East from City) about 40 mins from the city in non-peak

Cheers Ben, I will ring them in the morning.

Or anyone have a 320mm suede finished wheel they want to sell?
Shallow dish, 6 bolt mount (SAAS/Sparco) or flat dish Motolita mount type?
In either Melbourne or heading to Nationals?

Dave, you may be able to try the Revolution Racegear shop in North Melbourne.
North Melbourne
23 Stubbs St
Kensington/North Melbourne Vic 3031
Ph: 03 9376 5330

The only problem you may have is that they might not have it in stock at the store and Mitcham is the warehouse. I'd ring the Nth Melb store and see.

I've bought some stuff at the Mitcham store and the staff there have been really informative and helpful.

Rgds

Gregg

Cheers Gregg, If the store at Mitcham is the "main" store, then I may go over there for a look anyway.

I have a few things to do tomorrow, but hope to find the time, if not, then I will be twirling the big timber one on the hill climb.

Dave,

You could also try Meridian Motor Sport in Moorabbin they have quite a large range of stuff and last time I was in there they had a couple hanging on the wall.

Oh well, I drove over to mitcham, they where very helpful, but daft nothing in stock with SAAS mounting pattern, and no adapters in stock.
They did suggest it is easy enough to redrill and tap new threads, but not so easy when your 2500ks from home. Next time.

Boxhead, not sure why you've overlooked Autobarn, they usually have a good supply hanging on the walls - the larger stores anyway. They also stock the SAAS and Autotecnica boss kits.

I have called into every autobarn, supercheap I have passed, most have wheels at 350mm diameter, none in suede (would have grabbed a leather if 330mm / 320mm)

Isn't 350mm the legal limit? Is here in westoz. Insurance may have something to say in a bad situation...

in Vic the guide to modifications says that replacement steering wheels may not be less than 330mm. Of course if I build my Cobra from day one with a 300mm wheel then its not a replacement. In this case I'm going to assume the engineer will have the final say, as there is no ADR for steering wheel size ?

I am only looking for track use, and with a flat wheel on a CR then I dont think there is enough room for hands between wheel and door.
