Default About bloody Time.

An interesting developement, only Ford powered Cobras are accepted.

For all you others that think a chev belongs in the rails of a cobra, have a good think about your mistakes and stand aside for the real fakes.

Wazza,

Do the organisors in the Indy Race at Surfers insist that only Ford powered Cobras can participate in the 'Driver's Parade?'

I think someone is "Pulling your chain"...

There's NO WAY that they would make it ONLY Cobras powered by Ford engines....

The organizers wouldn't have a clue what was under the hood....nor do they care...
They see Cobras as "Ford" cars for the purpose of the parades.

Gees...the Indy parades had pretty well "one of Everything" in the Cobras...
LS , Ford , Gas powered, Lexus .....They'll be right as long as they are Cobras.

The " Holden" drivers will probably be in Corvettes.

Methinks Monsieur Mizzi is being a little scallywag !!

Cheers,
Warren.

Hey Wazza did you let 'Monsieur Mizzi' know about the requirements of a 'Newbie' at the 'A series'?

Default Shoot the messenger

I do speak the truth.

Apparently someone made a point of letting the wrong people know that there "ford" cobra had a Holden motor in it. I am only responding to the official word from our president Mark Hudson, who was advised by the promoters.

We will actually even have fake "Ford" number plates on our cars.

I just hope that people who are not happy with the way this has gone, respect that there is nothing underhanded going on and insinuating something has is just disappointing

Sorry Phil....
I just made a phone call to the promoter and confirmed that they are in fact ONLY using Cobras powered by Ford.

Arrrrrrrrrrggggggghhhh!

I told him exactly what I thought of this stupid decision...and not to ever call me again when they want any favours.

I apologize to any LS powered Cobras that will miss out...

Ian ( The Promoter) said that they ( V8 Supercars) had raised this topic after the last time we were part of the Indy/600 event, but since we haven't been needed in that event since, it was never brought up.

And it seems that someone had simply pointed out that there were some of the Cobras in the group that had Chevvy/GMH engines, ( Nothing nasty )..
and this then suddenly became an issue.

I'm sorry if there are any disappointed members because of this,

Hopefully the Ford powered Cobras will still enjoy the day....

Cheers,
Warren

That is a sad turn of events, still not enough reason to run a boat anchor.

I am dissapointed I am not going now, but that is life.

I can understand that the promoter is only trying to look after the sponsors, there is no use causing a fuss.

Have fun those of you that get a spot.

Phil,

If you are insinuating that my enquiry to Wazza was for underhanded purposes, you are so far off the mark that it's laughable.

Of course I am upset at being culled, but that's the decision of the promoters, whether it be right or wrong.

My enquiry to Wazza was simply to establish if the same criteria applied for the Indy Parade and that's all.

Baz

Both the Fords and the Holdens run Holinger gearboxes. The promoters would be hard stretched to find a Cobra with a similar transmission. That's how stupid this ridiculous decision is. Good luck to those Ford engined participants. Have a great day and hold the Cobra banner high.

Yep I agree it is a silly pointless decision to not allow the unpure engines in the parade.......
I mean, in reality, those of us that have modified Ford engines don't run anything Ford in them. I have a DART block, Trick Flow heads, Massfloefi inlet & throttle body. About the only thing Ford on mine is the fuse box (ED XR8) and the (not for long) A9L EECIV computer.... Even my water pump and timing chain cover are reproduction...
Oh sorry I almost forgot!!!!! The mighty 9" diff......

this will no doubt be Ford's doing, promoters just do as they're told by BIG sponsors, even if it's not admitted to.

tell them a Ford powered Harrison has partial Commodore front suspension and Nissan (long-live-Godzilla) rear-end. Should be good for a OMFG look on their face.

Are Ford the sponsors? I see in Warren's notice that the Grand Parade will have the "Ford Drivers" as passengers in the Cobras. I guess if Ford is running the show, that they would want a Ford motor or derivative in there for the Ford connection. Maybe the GM/Holden V8 Supercars guys should do their own event with only Cobras with GM motors?

As has been said, our cars are not replicas or reproductions in any real sense but various forms of 'tribute' cars to an original concept.
