I'd say the main problem is that these people that work within the V8 Super cars business would have no concept of what our cars are about.
Many of them, probably still think the Cobras are all "Originals".
i.e. The Holden drivers will be carted around in the Old original Chevvy/GMH type cars....and , of course, the Ford drivers will be driven around in those beautiful old original Ford Cobras !!
There's never been a problem with the Indys etc., probably because the organizers might think that the Cobras are all original Ford vehicles....
It might do their heads in to find how many different "makes" sometimes are thrown together to make a modern day replica.
It's like when someone comes up and asks if it's an "original"......
I always think to myself, that if you have to ask, then you're not really a follower or interested enough to know about the Cobra replicas....so why does it matter to you whether it's original or not.
Anyway....
Hope you guys that are taking part in the parade have a ball.
Regards,
Warren.

As Geof (Cob 07) says as his byline: Is it an original? It must be as it is the only one I've ever built!

Spot on Merv. I had mine parked in the local shopping centre the other day and a 9 year old school boy asked me, "Hey mate. Is it an original Shelby. What size donk are you running. A 427 Side Oiler or the 428 overhead cam job?" Obviously his Dad is a rev head.
By the way, thanks Phil for your comment. I just don't operate that way. My enquiry was merely to satisfy my curiosity. From the comments on this Thread, it would appear that my curiosity was justified. The 'Promoter- Drivers - Organisers or who ever made this ridiculous decision has lost the plot completely.

ive done several drivers parades now, and they are good fun, the public like them and ive been asked plenty of times by other car guys how can they get involved, they would love to get onto the track, so dont ***** too much publicly and give too much away or all cobras might find it hard to get invited to these events. we will be painted as a pack of whingers. [ sorry to all the guys who cant participate ] thats my 2 bobs worth.

Interesting topic given how few Ford/Holden components make up a V8 supercar.

Having been involved in running one or two big events I am guessing that the token entry cost would see the promoter cover insurance and admin. costs. Usually just a paper entry shuffle and all are accounted for.
If promoters specify Ford only the option then is all in or all out - but somehow I do not think the brotherhood is that strong..

Is that the DART one?
Not allowed as it aint Ford.
But you should be ok if they ever decide to run Goggomobiles in V8 Copycars

Is it a holden?..... no is it a chev?......no is it one of those fandangeled toyotas?.......no.
Well what is it?...... it looks like a Ford........ smells like a Ford....... leaks oil like a ford....... hey it even sounds like a ford..... then it must be a Ford.
I understand completely there decision, the risk that some Mooose lets go how un Ford their cobra is in the FORD drivers parade is just not worth it.
You dont ask for a Pepsi in the Coca Cola board room.

Fair call Phil.
Initially I thought there was only going to be cobras in the parade carrying both ford and Holden drivers, and if that was the case, who would give a **** about what engine they had.
But as the Ford guys are in cobras and Holden guys are in corvettes that totally changes the situation. I should think that engine type would not have been even thought of by the promotors and have now made this move to eliminate what would be quite an embarrassing situation for the Ford guys.

I guess there are no Corvettes entered with Ford motors?

Asking for it
A chev powered cobra probably is closer to the early Corvettes than a cobra.
Dare I say

A chev powered cobra was built back then too.
It was called a cheetah. (pun not intended)

So is your car a cheetah replica?
I thought the Cheetah was a GM built racer to take on the Shelby Daytona Coupes.

And there's the stupid irony of it right there.
I wanted to say something about this topic but I'm truly speechless.
Looking forward to the V8 Supercar episode of Housos. Although that's probably denigrating the Housos crew!

I must admit I have lost all interest in the V8 "Supercar" advertising/marketing concoction we are served up. It is so restrictive and boring with two race cars with supposed associations with major companies. They are more concerned with keeping other constructors out than creating wider interest or real competition It would love to see how some of the European or Japanese cars went against them. It has become a Claytons set of events. It looks like racing, sounds like racing and is held on great tracks with fans who would like some real racing among more constructors.

V8 Supercar control is nearly as bad as F1 and Bernie's absolute control there. I often wonder why Ferrari get involved. With a waiting list and some potential owners even missing out in first production quotas .

If you all remember the 90's then you will remember the races that had more brands. Put your hand up if you went to one of those races...... It didn't work cause no one wanted to put their money where their mouth was... They changed the format, made it a 'traditional' Ford V Holden V8 battle and look where it went. They sound great and you can actually go and buy a V8 Holden or ford. The others want in because it's successful, I can't really see the same passion for a Toyota Camry or other brand of 'sensible' hybrid... Nothing like the sound of a silent electric racecar???? We went thru this in the 90's remember??? It was called the 'world touring car championship'.....
