Default Cobras wanted for V8 Supercars Drivers Parade at Homebush.

11 COBRAS WANTED FOR V8 SUPERCARS DRIVERS PARADE.

I have been contacted by the promoters of the "ARMORALL AUTO SHOW" ,

Armor All Auto Show Sydney Telstra 500

which is being held in conjunction with the "SYDNEY TELSTRA 500" ...the final event in the V8 Supercars calendar, being held over the three days of the 2nd. , 3rd. and 4th of December.

They ( Raceline Promotions ) are the same company that we have always dealt with in participating in the Gold Coast Indy events..Gymkhanas and Driver parades and car shows etc.

The ArmorAll Auto Show is being set up in "The Dome" at Homebush...with all cars being undercover and locked away at night after closing.

They have asked if I could "arrange" for 11 Cobras for the Drivers parade on Sunday 4th. December, at Homebush Olympic Stadium.

Although I'm not "arranging" all of this, I said I'd be happy to pass on all of the details, and those who are wanting to take up the offer can contact them direct ( See below )

Each Cobra would have a V8 Supercar driver ( i.e. Ford Drivers ) as a passenger, and take part in the "Grand Finale Drivers Parade"

There are a couple of options that are up for grabs....

Each car would pay $55-00....

and for this you would receive TWO three day passes to the Sydney Telstra 500
PLUS entry to the night time events at the Armorall event...including Rock concerts etc.
( This package is valued at approx $300-00 )...
and also...if you wanted...you can "Show" your car in the pavillion for the duration of the event...and be eligible for prizes...$2,500-00 in trophies/prizes being awarded.

OR...
If you didn't want to have your car tied up for the whole event...

then the $55-00 will still get you the $300-00 worth of event passes/concerts etc. etc.....

but you could opt to JUST do the drivers parade...

and if so, then
you would need to be ready and on site by 6-00 a.m. on the Sunday morning.

DON'T contact me to arrange all of this...but direct contact with Ian Baddock on

07 55378255

e-mail address: racelinepromo@yahoo.com will get it done.

This all seems to be a pretty good deal for the Sydneysiders...and hopefully you will get to be part of the event, and all have a great time.

Regards,

Warren Boylan,
Club President,
Cobra Car Club of Queensland Inc.

Wazz, sounds like a good weekend. I know a lot of us are now passed our prime, but I don't think I would ever use the words John Farnham, and Hunters & Collectors in the same sentance as Rock music and Motor Racing

I've also got all of this info off to Mark Hudson, Neil Streeting, Phil Lynne....so it should get around to the right people.

Good Luck with it all.

Cheers,
Warren.

Maybe it should read.....
Cobras invited to take part in a special event.

Everybody else pays...but don't get to show off with the V8 Supercar Drivers.

Why are you asking.....You driving over for it ?

Cheers,
Warren.

There is a lot of interest.

Mark Hudson, our newly elected president will broadcast an email with the form.

There will be a ballot to determine who will get a spot.

NSW people check your email.

Phil

XB, we went up for the Indycar drivers parade on the Gold Coast back in '97 and it was free entry on the day for those cars and 2 people, as the organisers wanted parade cars. That used to be the norm.
Times have changed, and even I was surprised a couple of years back when I heard you now had to pay for the privilage.

But I reckon it's a good deal, 55 bucks for what Joe average pays 300 for and you get in the middle of the action.

The "Deal" for the Indy was always crap.....or at least since about 2002.

We had to buy a four day pass.......and the only "advantage" was that we could drive right into the middle of the city and use the underground parking for the Cobras each day.

Even though the 4 day pass was pretty good value....many of them only got used for the one or two days of the parades........

shows how keen we were to want to be in the Drivers parades......All bloody Showoffs !

I must admit though...the Friday Night street parade through Surfers Paradise, and the laps around the Indy track were pretty awesome , massive crowds all cheering...( Flashing )....waving.......

and spending time with the Indy drivers, and the V8 drivers was always pretty cool as well.

This latest arrangement seems o.k. now.

Hope you enjoy it.

Regards,
Warren.

Taken from the top of my roll bar in 2008 at the Gold Coast Indy event. Apologies for the quality....

No. I'm still a 'wannabe' anyway.
It seems the 'offer' will be oversubscribed anyway, so I'm in the minority here. It just seems to me that if you are invited by the promoter to provide a service, he's getting paid by the public (admissions) and you have to pay as well. Logic tells me the Cobra invitees should at least be offered their costs.
My 2 cents.
Cheers, and enjoy the event
Glen

Logic tells me that they would pay when all others willing to pay have dried up.... In our case it was about $400 we were willing to pay to be able to drive around the track with 100,000 (it seemed that many yelling 'light 'em up') screaming fans and nearly as many boobs being flashed....... Each time was an awesome experience I will never forget. That footage was shown all around the world when the Indy cars were there.......

If you have more than eleven want to take part...I'd give Ian Baddock a ring....sometimes they can put an official or a promo girl in the cars and use the extra vehicles...or the Chebby boys have break downs and they use the other cars.

Just a thought.

Cheers,
Warren

Lol,

Not much chance of Chev breakdowns - pretty rare.

I would be more worried about those Ford engines overheating!

Wink

A good point there -- make sure your car is ready
Got fuel
Does it overheat
Will it start
Will it catch fire

Remember, the car will be nervous in front of those crowds.

and there's some good reasons for back up cars

Hi Ben,
I am looking at trailoring the Cobra up on Saturday and hopefully be able to drop it at the venue, leave the trailor somewhere and then stay at the brother in laws as there will be my daughter as well. Ultimately I would like to get there for the 3 days so will see what happens. Thanks heaps for the offer.
cheers
Brett
