Sorry if you have felt misled, certainly not our intention.

We are currently designing and building the components for our Cobra. The kits will have extensive testing, in some cases more testing than required by our registration requirements.

I am personally very excited to have our Cobra offerings finally coming together. We are putting everything we have into them and I am very happy with how they are coming together. They are a different offering to what is currently available.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and support, it's a tough industry and tough economic times, so I am grateful for any support that is offered.

Nice reasoned reply there Craig. I'd have gone off at the ignorant twit.
The responses following his fatuous and uninformed comments illustrate the esteem in which you and your company are held by the Australian Cobra family.

Just came across this thread.

My 2 cents worth….that’s a little tough on a new guy isn’t it? Isn’t he doing exactly what we on this forum should be advising him to do, speaking to manufacturers and also to a compliance engineer?

The poor guy has probably gone away and won’t return....and I wouldn't blame him.

I'm thinking that.....

Hi Steve,

I've got a Venom Motorsports chassis, whilst there is split opinions on this chassis, I still love mine. My 2c, and from my engineer, is that all Vic ICV's need to be tested. Whether Vicroads accepts the manufacturers test is entirely up to Vicroads, so this may save you money, but in the end the test isn't that expensive (mine cost $550). So what the person talking to you is actually saying is that his chassis has been tested and passed, so that gives you confidence, whereas mine was untried and needed to be improved to pass. For me, the benefit in spending the extra cash on the RMC/DRB etc etc kits are:

1. You know they pass the torsional test. The other tests (emissions and braking) are dependent on other variables.
2. You get a known path to walk down, that others on this site and through the manufacturer themselves can guide you.
3. Build manuals.
4. Most kits have a spectrum of level of finishing. Things like shock mounts, trailing arms, engine mounts, dash/footwell kits, 'stretched' wheelbases, foot roominess, all add up in the end as more work for you to do. At the bottom of the spectrum is my venom was effectively two chassis rails (like a 32 rod) or a build your own, where you engineer/design it yourself, through to DRB540, which you buy a Falcon and bolt it together (almost).

After taking my path to Cobra ownership, I'd do a Venom again, mostly due to the flexability and joy I get from designing it from the ground up. This in mind, I've probably spent more getting mine to a finish similar to the DRB etc kits, and they would probably look better.

Good luck with Mr Venom (Vic) one of my friends put down a fair bit of money to secure two cars at the start of this year, and to date all he has to show for it is poor and sometimes non existant comunications and nothing else. In his enquiries he has located two other would be customers in a simular position.
