The 289 Register will be at the Goodwood Revival in force and we're arranging evening dinner at a local hostelry on the Saturday if any of you car to join us.

Gav and his mates joined us at Le Mans and I think they had a good time.

I don't think we'll be able to arrange any track laps this time though.

Paul

Hey there all you Aussies who are going.
If your keen to catch up at some time we better get organised.
I have messaged Paul (Fatboy) and we will see what happens, but the invite for Saturday night sounds promising.
If anyone going and wanting to catch up can email me at davidboxhead @ hotmail.com (remove the spacers), we will see what we can do.

Cheers everyone.

P.S, Ronda now has a broken ankle (nearly 2 weeks ago) plaster comes off about 4 days before we are due to be on a plane.

Bought myself a new toy for Goodwood today.
I have always only had the $100 digital cameras or phone camera.
Today I bought a Panasonic DMC-FZ150 camera, I will have to play with it at some stage soon so I can be confident of using it correctly.
Any other shutter bugs can give me some tips?

I made a similar purchase last year prior to my visit to Laguna Seca and Pebble Beach. There were up and down sides to the ‘fancy’ camera. I found it most useful when a telephoto lens was attached, i.e. racing photos, but for around the paddock area the $100 ‘point and shoot’ digital was just so easy.

I also played around with shutter speeds, etc, on the new camera but found I was spending too much time with my new toy and not watching the events I had emptied my wife’s bank account to attend.

One good aspect of high definition digital cameras is that you don’t have to solely capture the subject in the frame; you can always crop it later. A big plus to that is that you can pick up some interesting background subjects at the same time. Also, don’t forget to take wide shots which include plenty of background – your friends don’t give a rat’s about Shelby Cobra chassis #1234 but they will enjoy sweeping shots of the track and grandstands, etc.

I found that at Pebble Beach after 10.00 am it became impossible to get a photo without people standing in front of the subject (luckily I got there at dawn) so my plan for Goodwood is to spend Friday taking paddock photos, Saturday taking racing photos and Sunday sitting in the stand watching the 250 GTOs beat the Cobras.

Here are a couple of photos from the same spot at 500 and 250 shutter speeds, some might call the latter an ‘Arty’ shot but I call it crap!

This thread might give you some ideas for paddock photos.

Not long to go now!

Circuit Highlights

Ash (Towmaster) is already on his way. He had to leave early to fit in some track time at the Nurburgring...... As you do.

We were due to leave next Friday but my wife had a kidney out last week so it has all been put back until 7th September... The lengths some women will go to spoil our fun is just unbelievable.

Martin Brundle in a Cobra should be a sight to see!

List of some cars and drivers. Quite some pedigree!

I'd like to be Dicky Attwood for the weekend.
He's entered to drive a Healey 100S, Cobra, Aston Martin DB4R and a Lister Coupe. Beats staying home and mowing the grass!
