They won't let you register a four cylinder one over here.

Tony, there have been some who have enquired in the past and some may have even done it. This thread contains info on a couple who were thinking about it previously and some of their experience. Hope it helps.

It's not a cobra, but I'm in the middle of finally importing my v8 engine ICV. Message me if you want to know what I've been through.

Depends on where you are moving to Pom.
I'd suggest NSW may not be where you should be aiming for.

As with every rego question on here, you will need to commission the assistance of an automotive engineer. Look one up that works in the state you are intending to move to and go from there.
If you are considering Victoria as a home, club rego (limited registration) may be your best hope at getting on the road with the least fuss.

Good luck
Gav

Thanks guy's I'm looking to settle in Qld.
Purge mentioned 100mm is this lowest part of the car?
What other issues will I face?
Noise levels?
Side pipe shields?
High level brake light?
Reversing light?
Headrests?
Harnesses?

It really all depends on whether the examiner had a happy
ending the night before. The guy I had obviously had a problem
with invading POMS and got me to alter quite a bit. He said that
the chrome round the dials could dazzle the driver if the sun shone on
them but decided not to force me to paint them black.
You really just have to bite your lip and stomach it. A lot of it is removeable
of course

If the car was first registered post-1989, follow this process if you meet the stated eligibility requirements. https://infrastructure.gov.au/vehicl...tions/pis.aspx

That gets it into the country. Then the hard work begins. Queensland Transport will advise what you need to provide to get the car registered. I have no reason to believe they will relax the engineering inspection requirements due to the personal import status.

This gives you an indication of the challenges you will face:
https://infrastructure.gov.au/roads/.../vsb_ncop.aspx

You wanted a checklist - here's your checklist (or at least one of them)

https://infrastructure.gov.au/roads/..._01Jan2011.pdf

When you get your FE powered Crendon out here and you get sick of jumping through hoops and want to sell the car, I'm in Brisbane so let me know

There is another way you could possibly do it if you have exhausted all possible options.
You buy a 'trade plate' its basically a plate you put on an unregistered vehicle that allows you to drive it..... it's a bit dodgy..... but doable I think.
