Default Bushfire - racecars, classics and engines destroyed

I was having a cleanout over the weekend and came across some photos that brought back horrible memories of a bushfire that blew through a friend's property, leaving a trail of destruction. It's almost 15 years ago to the day, but I can still remember the absolute carnage as our mates got together the following day to help with the cleanup and to see what we'd all lost. Thankfully, the family were all safe, but here's some of the damage...

My newly built 13:1 compression 472 cube big block and race spec glide, dropped off to his shed the previous day

Tubbed LH Torana pro-street car with a big block Chev

Big dollar Pontiac Pro Stock racecar under construction

55 Chev - with the bodywork distorted around the axle stand at the back of the car

Another 55 Chev

68 Impala

Holden H? Ute

2 door LJ Torana with an RB30 Nissan Turbo, due to be registered the following week

Fair to say, everyone there had seen better days.

Mate is it fifteen years? They were some bad days.
I got that old sick feeling when I saw these photos again.
Better times now, hey?

Those photos are gutting to look at . I can only imaging the time, $$$ and effort into it all...... something you just never want to see.

You can tell that was an intense fire. That metal didn't just bend - is looks to have melted.
