NSW Club Championships - 13th July 2012
The inaugural NSW Club Championships are being held on the 13th July.
Looks like a great event - Sprints, hill climb, drags. Who's in?

I am not sure what the club will do but I will offer my opinion.
The event will be heavily subsidised by the NSW Club, this is a reward for the effort the NSW club members put in organizing and running the nationals.
I am not sure if joining our club just to enter is in the true spirit of what is being put on here.
I think this will be a great day, maybe the answer is for QLD to put on their own club Championship day.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Phil

Temp??
After hearing the temps Tenrocca has suggested I think it will scare most... barr the hardiest of QLD's off.
It'd be great to see a few NSWelshman at the Shannons Muscle Car event up here at QR on June 22nd/23rd?
Invites I believe, are open to all......

Phil my understanding is the Shannon's gig invites us as group to participate. We arrange the group within the event. Wazza point man, chunky does the racing coordination and towy does the garage organizing etc. we can run regularity or sprints. Plus there's the usual group nc door to door, qld Porsche round, car show etc. for a $ per lap time it's a little exy but as a club organized track day/s type event it's probably our main event. It's good fun and great to watch everything going on. U really should lock it in the calendar...

Just a thought, and please don't shoot me down for saying this, but from what I gather, the QLD club is just about the biggest in Australia.
But do they actually organize a racing event?
As from an outsiders view, it looks like they just tack onto everyone else's events?
I hear about how good the. qLD weather, tracks & people are, how about organizing a Cobra or Shelby only event?
Not all of us are serious racers and want to compete against ferraris and porches etc.
Just a thought.

Boxy, see new thread I'm starting. It's gone a little off topic from Tenrocca's original. Sorry Andrew.

Are spectators welcome?
If I can get the time away, would like to drop in for a look.
Certainly understand if you want only NSW members there.

Our car will be double entered - Mads will be the 2nd driver.
All spectator are welcome.
The possibility of people joining the NSW club in order to be able to enter the event has been discussed in our club meetings and the response was neutral at worst. The feeling is that all club members (including new ones) are welcome. Certainly we understand that the numbers that would fall into this category (knowing it is only a 1 day event) would most likely be minimal.

As far as I know... There's no intention of any canetoads joining the club just to compete in this event.
I think it's an excellent idea, and sounds like a ton of fun, and we'd only spoil it for you.
Anyway... You guys need the practice, so you can kick our butts at the Nationals.
Cheers,
Warren

Only need one fast QLDer (and there are a lot more than one) for the NSW club championship trophy to reside in QLD - not sure if opinions would be so neutral then. It would be like Michael Phelps coming to Oz for the National Champs, taking home all the trophies and swimming for the US in London.
I just love the idea of this event - an event for the NSW club, who really are the Heart and Soul of the cobra community here in Australia. I think the NSW club is one that represents the typical cobra owner, willing to have a bit of a go at an event such as this, competitive, but not to the extent we'll risk meeting the wall to take home a $20 trophy. There are definitely some hard core racers in Qld, much more so than any other state. I do not criticise them, and can only admire the way they go for it. Part of the appeal of this event (for me at least) is that without some of the real hard core guys, the playing field is a bit more even.
Nothing controversial in that.........(OK - maybe the "heart and soul" bit ).
Cheers

Tenrocca I never even thought about the potential of the trophy heading north.
Hmmm, I'd suggest its all a bit of a pi$$ take more than anything.... has created some very amusing banter though!

What makes anyone think that the trophy would head North.....
Bit like the 'King Cobra' trophy....
It is currently well entrenched in its western sydney digs..... and hasn't been North for a number of years.....
'Long live the King !'

Ash I hear you've already extended your trophy cabinet in preparation for this year! Or is it too early to be talking up the trash against the roaches pre State Of Origin?
