Rivnut tool - el cheapo?
I'm after a rivnut tool for my build - I anticipate no more than 100 applications - he said hopefully! I couldn't see any in Oz and there are $30 tools on USA eBay with $30 postage. I've previously purchased some good value sheetmetal tool in this price range (jogglers, etc) but I was just wondering if anyone has purchased these? Thanks

I purchased one from local nut and bolt shop which was a solid cast construction and it works a treat.... $80-.
I have used one which looked like it was made of folded sheet steel.... still worked...... but the cast one was much nicer to use.
Just my observations.

There's several on eBay (Aussie) for under $100 delivered. Use "nutsert" as your search term.

I bought mine in a kit-box with various nutserts and fittings, was about $120 from memory, I think it has 3,4,5,6mm fittings, got it from Cost Less Bolts. Seems good quality, some Euro/German brand.

10-15 years ago I bought cheap set from Harbor Freight. I'm still using it. The kit cam with aluminum insert. Throw those away, and use a better quality material

I got one for about 12 bucks from aircraft spruce. It's a manual job you use with a wrench. Other than being a little slow it works fine. I've probably installed about 75 nuts with it.

when we do any of those type of fasteners here, in my shop( USA) i always go for the PEM brand, if you have access to that brand, they are good quality.

Some of the individual size kits with 6-10 rivnuts have their own installation tool included and allow for a well installed insert and the tool is fully reusable.
