Question Modified plenum?

Hi Folks,

Well, the Cobra is coming along nicely. The Boss 290 is now in and the body back on.

It's got possibly the world's shortest prop shaft on it... just on 6 inches. This is down to the Tremec T3650 gearbox but Rob at GForce says that there's a good chance it'll be fine.

Not the end of the world if I have to replace it... just more delay and cash.

Couple of minor hiccups along the way and it would be great to get some opinions on this...

1. The shifter is quite far back due to the length and position of the T3650. There are a couple of options available. Rob showed me a nice looking bit of kit from the US which is basically a bracket that brings the gear stick forwards. Only problem I've found is that the company that makes them for MustangsPlus (only supplier I could find) has gone kaput and they don't know when they will be able to source a new one.

An alternative to the remove shifter is to go flappy paddle gearbox. I've seen an awesome product by Motor Shift in the US that looks reasonably easy to install... only rub is the price. I've been quoted around the $3900 for the complete ensemble to convert by T3650. Ouch!

I'm leaning towards the flappy... just a bit more saving to do since it is a hell of a nice solution. Very tidy. Has anyone got any experience with flappies? Anyone in Australia do a good flappy solution?

As an aside, I tip my hat to the great people at Mustangs Plus. The people that I dealt with there were very polite, courteous and responded very quickly. I highly recommend them and even though I didn't buy anything for the reasons stated above, I've bookmarked them and will be going back.

2. Now that the Boss has been sat in its new home. The bonnet won't go down. This is due to the very wide plenum and the air intake being to the side. It looks like I need to look at replacing this... anyone have any suggestions? I've had a look around and seen some rather nice turbo solutions with front facing air intakes etc. but I want to keep things fairly stock at the moment.

Cheers for any help you can provide.

Adam.
