Default Australian Cobras a photo comparison?

I was reading this on another topic and thought this would be an interesting and helpful thing for all new buyers etc to do at the Nats this year.

All we'd need is a set place to photograph/set angle/tyre markers for wheel base reference and a good camera and a car from each stable for comparisons....

If Craig from Absolute Pace can get a Kirkham or AP Glass car there that'd be a great help too.

Everyone always talks about the differences but I'm not sure of any places that references every or almost every make.

What do others think?

Compare car profiles

Just an idea...

Would be easy enough to do. Critically important is the consistent camera angle/height so a tripod is a must. As you say, mark the place for the wheels, then adjust the camera height so that the top of both doors is dead level with each other. You can see in the shots posted that the consistent angle is not achieved due to tops of the far side doors showing in some but considering the shots were not taken in a controlled environment the results are pretty damn good and very useful for comparisions!

I feel sorry for the poor west coast car, he has been parked in the sun and the back end has gone soft and saggy.

It really burns my butt when people don't lend the dignity a car deserves. (Not directed at leroy btw) I own a West Coast Cobra and each and every time I take it to a show or car cruise is an attention getter.

When parked side by side to other makes its stands out. Recently it won best in show against FF, ERA, BD and an undentified maker perhaps a BB. It is unfortunate that the manufacturer of WCC is part of the problem with WCC. The car is solidly built, the chassis is execellent and the performance is great. There is one on e-bay right now and you can tell the owner can't sell and it is a shame.

This is my personal opinion based on the performance and satisfaction I have been able to draw from my car. ( don't kill me for this)
Sincerely
Basque1 (Lou)

Lou

You do realize this is an Aussie thread and the referenced
WESTCOAST car is actually not a US WestCoast car!!!
Purely a light hearted dig at one of the cars on our WEST COAST (Western Australia).

I realize that, however, they were also comparing US made replicas in the same thread, so I figured that it included the WCC made in America. Regardless, my statement is still a valid one with respect to the WCC. Also the model used on the thread for WC looks very much like a WCC.

Before I make a posting to a thread I always make sure that it is applicable to us and that it is up to date. Thaks for the qualifying statement.

Lou, I think you should also know there is loads of sarcasm that goes on in this corner of the site.
It may sound offensive to your ears but it is only a bit of fun being had in our own warped sense of humor.

OK Mates:
I guess I should loosen up a bit. I love the Australian humor don't get me wrong for an uptight ass I just like to give some credit to the make of my Cobra. I wish I was back downunder in the Perth area as in 1985.
Stay well mates

Perhaps we could just do something like this....Left shoulder to align with centre front hub assembly.

Great looking chassis those two. Mine had a chassis like that!
Handled great, no trouble at start up, was a bit expensive to run but then you only get what you pay for. Went well for about 6 years, then I knocked her up
...............been all down hill ever since, not to mention the expense to run it now! Needs new boots almost every other day, not to mention the paint ! Man it seems like it needs a new coat of paint every time the seasons change LOL

Its amazing how some chassis change shape over time ...

Ummm - back to the topic.
I will be at the Nationals with DSLR and tripod in hand, and unfortunately, unable to compete (again).

And also a consistent, non-distracting background. And no shadows, as they would change over time, and therefore change perceptions.

So I think it needs to be done in a garage. Gee, Wakefield have some of them, so how about we rope some off, set up the camera, and start taking shots? An alternative would be the scrutineering shed, but not on Friday.

thoughts?...
