Sticky problem

I originally fitted my own carpets glueing it down with contact glue (Kwikgrip)

I've been cleaning the cobra up and its time to get someone who knows how to upholster a cobra to complete the interior nicely.

I want to remove all the old carpet and wondered if anyone had a good solution to removing the carpet as it is well stuck down via the glue.

Is there something which might break glue bond down to assist in pulling carpets up, as they just tear and will take forever at the current pace.

Maybe try a heat gun? as long as it doesn't melt / burn the carpet.

3M has an aerosol contact cement and a solvent to match. I can't remember the exact name or number but the can is black and the solvent does wonders !

Peel the carpet back, a heat gun may help but may also just melt the carpet.

Once the carpet is up go to Tradelink and buy a 500ml bottle of clear primming fuild, its the clear version of the red stuff the plumbers use to clean P.V.C pipes with before they skick then together. This stuff removes just about anything, we use it at work to prep stuff with before stick it together. If that does doesn't work I have some Sikaflex cleaner that will work.
I am at the factory at the moment I can bring a heat gun home if you want it.

this works for us to release contacted laminate is shell ite it avilable from bunnings or any good hardware a small amount on a lifted edge will start the release
then whats left on the floor a small amount direct to the floor then a base sharp scraper blade to lift the rest off
whats left in the bottle start a fire to keep warm heheheheh

Seems to be some good options there. I will go to Bunnings today and get some cleaning fluid and try the heatgun method.

Cleaning fluid and a heat gun !!! maybe you should add a fire extinguisher to the mix as well. That shellite has a low flashpoint .
