I just bought some thin rubber strip from 'Clark Rubber' and contact glued it to the top of the chassis rails (square tube ) I think it was about 1.6mm thick and 50mm wide. All it is there for is to stop squeaks and metal-to-glass abrasion. I don't think the latter would be a problem though. My body is just straight fibreglass..no steel inserts. One thing I did do was to put spacers inside the mounting holes. They are a millimeter or so thinner than the piece of fibreglass they are bolting down to allow a bit of "weight" from the bolt to go onto the glass without crushing it. I used large washers as well.
