Been a while since last update, but there has been a bit going on.
Some boring retail work in amongst it (gotta fund the toys somehow) and been buying investment properties.
But the time has come and its upgrade time for RedCentre Nats.
First up, I finally found a set of the mags I lusted for on Mildred, and the fronts arrived yesterday and went straight to the painter.
He is colour matching and painting the centres, advised they will be ready today.
These are called Hayashi Yayoi (Sakura-CheeryBlossum), very retro and production ceased in early/mid 80's.
I had been hounding the manufacturer to remake me a set, and sadly after I had bought the ones I have, they contacted me and advised they have had enough customers ask and are doing a production run of 100 at 10k yen per inch.
These are mine being delivered to painter yesterday.
This is what both the rear (14x7) look like on Mildred.
The offset on the rims meant if I left everything as it was, I would require stretched rubber (a look I really don't like).
So I made the decision to shorten the diff by 32mm each side.
This is what they look like in shortened housing.
I have had the axles shortened and they are on there way to me now from Adelaide.
I also sourced 4 of the sport model alloy drums (I do have a Celica front disk conversion but reckon the alloy drums look more period correct).
I have also been fitting leather covers to the seats that my trimmer in Sydney stitched for me.
I have also had a mate ask me to do an engine swap/conversion on his grandfathers Valiant.
So we found him a suitable donor (so we got all bits needed) and I pulled that apart last weekend.
I am keeping a few bits for myself, these tail lights will end up on my Charger project.
I also found a suitable donor for the skid Corona I am building.
So I have removed the drivetrain and wiring, I will also be cutting the floor and firewall out for just in case before I send it to heaven.
That just about brings us up to speed.

Boxy
Pickles Auctions Alice Springs has a bent BA XR8 Boss 260 up for grabs in Salvage.
It has been offered twice before but passed in.
It might be worth having a look at!

Been away for a holiday, and got stuck into a few cars on the weekend, also had a tidy up in the shed.
Here is the donor engine from the Purple CxC.
Rattle Can rebuild.
Should I fit this?
I shortened a diff housing and axles in preparation to fit the bigger wheels under Mildred.
All painted up.
Bolted in with the S spec alloy finned drums.
Drum and wheel look good together.
7 inch wide for the back, all inside a standard guard.

Not really something that will interest me.
But I did miss out (forgot it was on) on a 1990 tray back diesel Hilux with blown motor that sold for $150 on Monday.

I was remembering the XC chicken coop from a while back. What happened to it?
A BOSS 260 would be nice in that, but I'd prefer a 351C.
and, a beard, white Hilux and singlet maketh a Territorian (so some say). You almost had two out of three. heh heh

The XC coupe is gone.
Brother inlaw decided he wanted to sell it after borrowing money to buy it from me.
So he used my shed, tools, power and borrowed the money to buy it initially (after I told him if he did not want to keep it I would buy and flip), he decided to buy it with my money and flip it.
Not a happy camper.

Been extreemly busy in the shed the past few weeks.
Always a made thrash to a car show.
Job keeping me busy has been the engine swap into the CM Valiant.
Found some time to play withg my car yesterday, so it was time to swap out the interior in Mildred.
Here is the old seats.
Pulled it all out.
Fitted Leather top rear parcel shelf and replaced.
Leather front seat fitted.
Leather gear stick boot.
Rear seat fitted.
All in Leather now, smells so nice and so very soft to sit on.
And here is the 360 in Valiant, I have had it fired up and running, Carby all rebuilt and ready to go.
Needs exhaust (booked later this week) and just waiting on shift linkage (posted from Melbourne on Thursday) to connect the 727 to the floor shift.

Another mad thrash end of last week saw the CM finished and driven out, and put straight onto full NT rego.
Brett is very happy.
With that blow in job done, it was time to be back onto my cars.
So Mildred was on the hoist Thursday night and tried on the new lower profile tyres.
Happily I got the clearance I needed to let me run the super low springs.
So it was full steam ahead, to fit the 2 inch blocks under her bum.
All has turned out well and I really love how she sits now.
I have also last night replaced all hex head bolts with Stainless allen button heads.
Mildred also had a bath and will be polished and waxed Tuesday night.
I then decided to make a start on my "Barn Find" Corona.
Found a leaking rear welch plug in head also a knackered brake master cylinder, I know have all the bits to fix both these, so will be into it tonight.
This is Maude (Maude Auguta as she came from Port Augusta).
She has seen some 80's mods with conversion to floor shift and Jag bucket seats plus a sports steering wheel.
I had some old Globe mags, but think I will go back to stockies and caps she had when I picked her up.
Will see duties this weekend in grass driving events.

OK that's it - how about I send you my Comet tomorrow. You can fit the XR6T motor, fab up a cross member for the powerglide, make a tailshaft, fit the shortened 9", single leaf springs and Caltracs, mini tub the rear for 275/60 drag radials, make the column shift work with the glide, maybe chuck in a chrome moly cage, sub frame connectors and rewire the car for the EFI...
...and I'll fly up this weekend to collect the finished item from you.

Maude now goes and stops.
I am just getting tyres swapped from the Jelly Beans that used to be on Mildred, onto a set of stockies, as I want to run full Granny spec with caps and trims.
I refitted the rubber side protection mouldings last night.
Also made all lights work.
And cranked up the old AM Radio.

Got the wheels sorted for Maude, so those went on last night after the RCN02 volunteers meeting.
Also fixed the indicators not working (flasher can).
She had a flat spot when reving, so checked out the carb, and sure enough the accelerator plunger wasnt squirting any fuel, pulled the carb top off and found the valve ok, fuel to the jet ok.
So I dragged out my old jet drills and cleaned out the hole, tested and squirts, then reassembled and tested. All good now.
Took Maude for a blast around the block, she is old but drives well, stops great and steers as she should.
So she is all ready for Grass skids. may even drop her on the Dyno to scare the big boys.
Stocky wheels with caps and dress rings.
Then as I was sitting on my thinking chair, I took a couple of pics of the Sisters together.
Its gunna be a fantastic weekend.

Imagine Maude with a LS conversion.
Years ago at Summernats there was a Mk1 Cortina with a 460 in it. It run stock wheels and venitian blind in the back. So unassuming, and so cool.
