Default Show your boots (trunks) - pic request.

Hey guys, I have searched however have not seen a topic about this.

I am looking for inspiration as I am re-doing my boot (trunk) which is currently in raw alloy but not really well fitted or finished.

In other topics I have seen some pics but thought that as most like sharing and showing what's done... we could see them here.

I have solid ideas on what I want to achieve however thought that there are always great ideas from car building genuises.

There are some really cool boot trims out there. My favourite is the green CR up Newcastle way that has been at the Nationals a couple of times.

Here is mine.

I have gone the 'minimalist' or 'basic' way...although it took over 100 hours to polish the tank...I think it looks OK. Not a good pic though.[IMG] [/IMG]

Thanks guys and what a variety to get thinking about.

Ben, that is neat and a classic street machine custom look..... perfect..... I checked again today the issue of Street Machine you feaured in... nice.

Tenrocca, that is good work and makes me think... stay with alloy... then I think about how I use it with those trips to the shops, dont know how bags of pool salt and shopping will go with a polished and brushed finish...... downside of using any excuse for a drive.

One of the reasons I got a Cobra was that it was in many respects, 'a real car', with a useable trunk/boot. My other choice at the time was a PRB Clubman kit which didn't qualify as well for me for that reason. It maybe sacrilege but I have carried shopping, picnic gear, cement bags, lumber and even the dog in the Cobra.

I used a bead roller on the panels to prevent oil-canning (and I like the looks). The floor is coated with Duplicolor pick up bed coating. There are drain holes in the bottom of the well. I used license plate lights for lighting. And I installed a power outlet so I can recharge batteries while driving.

Not a replica of the original, and I don't open the trunk at shows and such. But it's very functional and durable.

Tie downs for loose items. Especially heavier things that might bounce around and scar the glass from the inside to out.

Here's a photo of mine. It is trimmed in English Wilton Carpet. There are two electrical plugs on the top left corner of the boot. Both the leads run from the Odyssey Battery which is concealed behind that blank off on the rear wall. One is for direct connection to the battery charger on the wall of the garage behind where I park the car. The other is a push in dual plug for jumper leads which I carry in the battery compartment. Plenty of storage space available.

Default Trunks!

Not the best pic in the world but different to many.

Considering the quality of what you guys have all done with your boots I should have at least cleaned that dust off!
