Dave, I'm told that many of these cars that are racing are actually reproduction kirkhams in the original CSX livery?

The real ones get sent to kirkham and they then copy them and the owners then race them under the original CSX guise.

Any truth to this?

Its certainly understandable. But I'm surprised if this is true more people don't know about it. (Or am I just the only one?)

Spookypt

I heard the same story regarding the Daytona, dont know if its true or not.

In either case, the cars are amazing.

The cars racing are allowed to be sister cars or 'clones' of an original held by the same owner.
So you are probably right, a number of them including the Daytona may well be clones.

They are pretty cool either way

You would think they would let them lose that useless weight wouldn't you?
I heard that leaving the manual gearboxes in place was the easiest way to limit their straight line speed.

130Kg for an auto?
Better check your sources sunshine!
I can easily lift and carry mine, and then allow a few kilo's for fluid.

Perhaps I am super human????

That would make sense Gav, but Dad and I happened to run into Goodwood's chief scrutineer (an Aussie) a couple of weeks after the event, where he confirmed that the original car must be used at that event.

That said, I heard talk about the Daytona and a few of the Cobras too...

I read the rules for the Classic LeMans earlier and they state that cars must be of the same model as those raced at leMans or original leMans cars.
'The same model' may be open to interpretation?
