My Sister in Law just rang saying do you know about the stolen cobra, apparently is was on the radio news broadcast.

Seams like a lot of people are talking about it, probably not a good thing.

It will be very interesting to hear how it all plays out thats for sure.

I hope that its all above board and he just got skunked by some joyriders and it all works out and he gets his car back in the same condition he left it....

But life has its twists and turns and isn't always so kind.

You would think that for only $300 (plus $60/year for a sim card), a well hidden GPS tracker would give some chance of recovering your pride and joy (or valuable car/machine) and maybe catch some criminals at the same time. You would have limited time though to beat any dismantling etc. Hope it turns up in one piece. We'll keep an eye out for it in CQ.

I hope it all turns out well.

The weekend of Chromefest I was heading south towards Erina and the car drove past me heading to The Entrance. After a feed and a haircut at Erina I headed back north and by sheer fluke drove past almost exactly the same spot and the silver cobra was heading south..but this time I didnt see it first...I heard it and thats with the windows up!

No way was this thing joy ridden.

Sounds like a dodgy thing to me.

A bit like that Veyron that an American purchased and then 'apparently tried to sell' or 'get taken'', but no one was interested. Instead he drove it into the sea and claimed the insurance on the car.

Unfortunately for him someone was videoing the car and 'no low flying seagull' was spotted as he claimed was the reason for his swerving.

I live around Brisbane Water and yes i have seen this vehicle before, certainly is a car with "history" so to speak.

A popular past time around here is "launching" a car in the middle of the night at one of the many boat ramps.

The word "convenient" comes to mind in regards to the reported theft of this car.

Hi Bill,
Yep, yet another intriguing tidbit of information for inclusion in the next edition of the Cobra registry. Vale CSX 4048. Maybe it will be discovered in a 'barn' in a few years time or maybe Boxhead will find it on one of his outback adventures, you never never know.

cheers all

So which ramp did you launch it off Max? ;

Looks a bit suss registering for a forum and then posting on this thread. Most people start out with an introduction and then a question about a kit or engine choice.

I agree Aussie Mike.

Its like these guys that rob banks and then send pics of themselves doing it to their mates on facebook.

I'm more than sure our insurance and policial friends are watching with interest!

Well i have already posted my first question before this, if you look you will see it, I live on Brisbane Water between West Gosford and Woy Woy, im just telling you how it is, cars are stolen and dumped off the many boat ramps by kids mostly, so if its not in Brisbane Water somewhere you can most likely rule that theory out.

I own two BMW's and two classic/vintage cars already, i hardly need to be stealing peoples Cobras in the middle of the night, anyway i simply don't have the garage space!

I have my own theory on what went on here like a few people do know doubt.

Hey maxi, I've got a BMW push bike too, and a rusty old Anglia in the back yard, does that make us half even?

Sorry Max, I was just trying to cheer thinks up a little...

and keep commenting, that's what forums are all about.
And.....I'll shut up in a minute......you won't always like what others say, bear in mind that often words or sentences can be taken the wrong way because we don't have the luxury of voice tones and inflexions when reading typed words.

When you have been on forums a long time you get to be a bit wary of new members who register and then post in the most controversial thread for their introduction to the forum. There is a type of person out there that just likes to do this to stir up trouble and thrive on the incensed replies from forum regulars. These folks are called Trolls. See the wikipedia description Internet Troll

So you can naturally assume when someone for their first post puts up a thread about which car is more original (a topic that usually fires up members opinions) and then posts in a hot thread about a stolen Cobra (another subject that gets people's dander up) ...well the regulars get suspicious of the new member.

As I mentioned earlier, most folks introduce themselves to a forum and let people know what they are about before jumping right in. This forum is very tame and accepting compared to most I've been on. Hence the reason you only got a few tongue in cheek and smart remarks rather than people just telling you where to go.

If you are serious, stick around and you will fund us to be a very welcoming helpful bunch. If you are a troll then get back under your bridge.

Cheers
