Hadn't thought about that but yes the high quality soft leather they use in the high end exotics.

The texture is also fairly fine grained, something the missus preferred too over a wrinkly old man skin look. She can get that anytime looking at me - ha

Ha the wrinkles came later!

No physical progress to report as I was riding all weekend for Peter Mac in a cancer charity event. Just 100kms each way from Albert Park down to Mornington.

But the building headwind on the Sunday return ride was a real b1tch. As perhaps were the weather extremes, we took off 7am ish Sunday in wind chill temperature in single figures brrrr. By finish of ride it was high twentys or more. Good ol Melbourne.

I have however just paid a materials bill to Peter Blackman to cover the hides and carpet for the cabin. Just awaiting his call up now.

Cheers

Default Cobra sympathetic roadworthy providers

Am just revisiting suggested RWC providers for the cobra roadworthy I'll need to get for re-registration.

The last time I asked on this issue I was given two suggestions the nearest being Neil Hamilton Motors in Huntingdale.

Presumably this contact is Neil Hamilton, is that correct?

Is he active in the club and does anyone know him?

Are there any others in the SE suburbs area I might contact?

Look forward to feedback.

Cheers

Default small update

Whilst awaiting the trimmer call up various small jobs being tackled.

Made up a cover over the gaping hole access hole in the boot.

Have measured up and have now ordered replacement spark plug leads.

And best of all got the word from the trimmer that he wants the car on 16 November for three days to get the carpet and door skins done, then he will progress the seats.

All getting closer - woo hoo.

Ha perhaps another birthday launch for the beast not that would be prophetic!!

Cheers

Default Two part tale - Part 1

So with some time before trailering to the trimmer work has continued.

Work has mainly been in the boot. Fitting closures around openings such as the main boot floor access above the fuel tank, around the fuel filling and breather pipes and on the parcel shelf around the seat belt post.

But have also been shielding the wiring to the amp both to separate the main power and ground and to protect the general wiring. Need to revisit that outer cover and make it longer but that's some simple metalwork.

Was also on a bit of a mission and got the car to the point of needing some alignment check so back on its boots for the first time in a long period.

And then started to set up for a string line check, that worked well. Or at least seem to!

With that work done the car was driven into the driveway for a clean of all the accumulated dust of the past half year.

A good milestone reached.

So part 1B as I missed adding the car idling after wash.

http://vid564.photobucket.com/albums...psb0pzfslu.mp4

Had a sort of squeak that disappeared as soon as you touched the clutch so not sure if the thrust bearing which was new just needs some run time.

And discovered I don't need to spend a fortune of trimming, that inflatable camp mattress did the seat padding job just great - lol

Default Two part tale - part 2

As they say not recorded didn't happen - but I needed to downsize the raw footage first.

So two short clips from a Cup Day outing.

I needed to both downsize the video file and cut out the blabbering director!!

Had a play with this first clip, the second is just as cut.

Enjoy - I know I did!

The court return,

First drive 2015 Pt 1_zps4kwh9mgy.mp4 Video by slowy59 | Photobucket

and heading to the shed for a polish

First drive 2015 Pt 2_zpsh2tm2v9i.mp4 Video by slowy59 | Photobucket

A few squeaks as brakes refreshed themselves, some thrust bearing noise and the thermo fan kicked in at the end but that's a good thing. Also fixed the badly earthed reverse light.

Cheers

Ha and thanks Jon

Happy days part 2 I guess, this happened 8 years ago but back then the car was no where near quite as well dressed as this time.

Anyway with that out of my system it will be a trailer queen until I can legitimately get an unregistered vehicle permit.

Am hoping that the duration of that permit will actually be very short and replaced by full rego in December.

Am in the hands of my trimmer on this I guess but it is looking all do-able!

So any further decisions on your part as to a kit??

slowly you can get an unreg vehicle permit now. You get it online, for up to 28 days, and can drive it if "preparing for registration". Only during sunup to sundown. I used two of these to shake down the car and to drive to RWC and alignment etc.

But I need a trimmed seat mate!!

Don't think the camping lilo / mattress will cut it as true seat padding - do you?

Have a closer look at the seat frame say as I back into the drive. Just the raw metal frame for now.

Getting the permit post cabin trim is part of the plan though.

On alignment you used a fellow in Moorabbin, who was that and would you recommend them?

If so I'll have a chat with them about Jag set ups.

Cheers
