Dont blame you Gav. It is a boring Cleveland. But was super reliable. Drove home from the track every time.

Got bored with it. Couldn't beat a 1:52 around Winton with that engine and road tyres. Thats why I built the Cobra. Looking to have more fun again soon.

You are the one that said it DIED gav, ah those misfires, probably not much, do you think it might have anything to do with all that air getting past those piston slapping bores into the sump.
Once you have pulled it down for your rebuild be sure to post up some nice piccies for us all to see.
im sure all the darksiders will be most interested.
All the best with it nobody likes a broke engine.

Sorry, I should have said I had to put it down.

I reckon there are melted bits in there Tommy, hopefully the bores are OK and some nice new slugs and maybe rods will fix it.

Yes Gav, we are back on the road, got into Forster Tuncurry today. It was an ordinary day, I broke the awning and hit a camp Kitchen with the fifth wheel (under parking directions from the park staff if that makes any sense) and to top it off, ran over a kids scooter in the Silverado.........the kid wasnt on it !!. He wont leave that on the road again.
Tommorrow should be better !!

All the best with Taxi motor II.

Cheers
Chris & Melissa

While you are in Forster, drop into the Post Office and see Churchy (Mark Churchill) he is a Cobra owner too!

Sorry to hear about your engine Gav.
I enjoy taking the piss out of those who drive common-whore powered cobras as much as the next guy... But even I can't find the heart to stick my boot in.
Best wishes for a quick, easy and cheap but quality rebuild.
Like a Phoenix, I hope she'll rise from the ashes better than ever.

I agree, without knowing what happened i think you have probably melted some crowns, if its that bad new slugs and rods might be wishful thinking, possibly a bottom end rebuild, you know scoreing to bores and bearings etc,as they say, ''while its apart''

Gav bad news about the taxi motor I do have a Ford modular 5.4L with only 15000km on the clock if you are intrested. I do have the standard intack and ford computer to run it if you want. Would be an easy swap. The manual gear box how ever is up to you. Depends if your left foot is up to the job but.

Thanks LJ but your engine is a bit new, and where would be the fun in that?
As for my left foot, I sometimes use it for the brake but sometimes I just need it to tap along with the music.

Dont think it would fit either. Drop in crate LS9, 638 HP out of the box and cheap as chips.

Yep,
Two melted crowns Tommy, just like you said.
Quite repairable, but for the same dollars you can buy a lot more cubes in a short motor out of the states.
About 415 of them is sounding like the go

I am going to be in Australia in June of 2014 for a Rotary International Convention. My wife and I plan to do some sight seeing and tourist stuff before and after the Rotary thing.

Maybe I can visit some of you guys and swap Cobra stories, etc. You sound like you have fun and enjoy life.
