Default Handling

Hi!

With my cobra close to engineering and hitting the road for the first decent drives, one thing I have noticed is that it is quite twitchy at 100kph. Im running a Jag front end, cut down (jag power steering column shortened, no fluid) so from what I understand shouldnt have bump steer (the a arms / column relationship is maintained). I have string lined the car to make sure the toe is pretty close, and intend on getting a wheel alignment soon, but I wanted to know is this something to do with the length of the car, or something else I should investigate?

Nathan

Check the castor angle. Not enough castor will make the front end feel twitchy.

Cheers

is the steering rack at the same height and with a lighter car you will need a bit more caster than the jag it gives moor straight line stability but to much makes the steering heavy ,the power steering rack needs the pinion welding solid it has free movement in it that operate the hydraulics this will make the steering feel vague,

the jag front end also runs to much ante dive and because the a arm pivots tow out this affects the front stiffness in a corner by making the bottom arm pivot run parallel to the chassis instead of pointing down at the front you will reduce under steer
